I think it depends on how much you plan on lowering it...from what I hear if you lower 1.5" then it's ok but anything lower than that you might want some aftermarket shocks too cuz then the ride becomes ruff...but i'm a newbie ametuer so i'm not sure..

there are a number of companies that make sets of springs for our cars. H&R, Eibach, Racing Beat to name three.

YES you can just replace the springs and lower your car...there is a draw back to this though.....just remember that if you change ONLY the springs....that in about 12,000 miles or so...depending on how many miles you already have on your car....the struts are going to be shot and you will need to replace them. The stock struts are not properly valved for the increased spring rates of lowering springs and it over works them....so they wear out prematurely. SO, its a "pay me now or pay me later" situation. Personally I do NOT like to do the same job over again because I screwed up...or didn't do my homework and have all the facts before I dove off into it.

if you REALLY want to do it right....replace the struts at the same time with either the Mazdaspeed struts...or the MP3 struts.
