my local shop told me using kvr carbon fiber pads with my oem rotors would actually decrease braking performance. is this true? if it is can anybody recommend an aftermarket brake pad i can use in conjunction with oem rotors?

thanks,

There is no reason why ANY brand of pad won't work with the OEM rotors. Whoever told you the stock rotors won't work is either (a) misinformed or (b) lying in order to sell you cross-drilled rotors. Most likely it's reason (b).

Carbon fiber pads and pads with carbon in them are two completely different things. Carbon fiber pads are designed for race use only, and do not provide any braking power when they're not in their operating temp range. Most aftermarket pads will work fine on a stock rotor, but if you go with something like Powerslots, you can use a semi-metallic pad such as Axxis. Carbon impregnated pads just help to reduce brake squeal.
