CoilOvers and salt

I'd like to get ground-control coilovers for my 2000 protege, but I was wondering if it's a problem to run with these in montreal where the roads get salted in the winter. I heard that salt eats away at them, but don't know if it's true. I don't really take my car out too often in the winter anyways, but I occassionally do, and I just want to make sure that they won't get destroyed by the salt.

Thanks,
Shayne
