also the check engine light was on when i got it back from the body shop, it was solid all the way home i was like WTF. and when i got back home i checked my fluids, my oil was dirty and i got an oil change like 500kms before i got into my accedent.., i had almost no coolant, and my headlights don't even turn on WTF is with mechanics these days. i would guess he doesn't even know what car i drive even though hes been working on it for 1 month!

at least the accedent wasn';t my fault, $11000 to fix ouch, and its not even done being fixed yet

Go back to that POS body shop and have them fix all of that **** that they screwed up and if they try to charge you for that crap, report them.

Lastly, get a different insurance company that doesn't restrict you in where you can get repairs done.
never settle for half assed work. tell your insurance company that you're paying them to insure an OEM spec car, that was bought brand new... and you expect the car to be repaired that way if they're going to limit you to where you can have it repaired at. your car probably in perfect condition before the accident, and thats the way it needs to be now after repairs. do not settle for less.

Oh man, most of that stuff is engine damage, so im glad my $10,000CDN damage is all on the passenger side portion of the car.

My insurance is paying for mine too, but i think it is different here in Canada because i could go wherever.

I went to the place i went for my 1st accident. It is the 2nd most expensive in town.

So far it has been 7 weeks and will be another week and a half. I pray to god that all this extra time(they quoted 5 weeks) means that i wont have problems with the repairs.

I dont want to have to still be going back a year later tryign to get it all fixed.

I feel for you man, i am in the exact same position, but like i said, all body damage to mine, not engine at all(that i thank god for, or not, if there was it probably would have been a write off which would have made it all so much easier).

You have to be able to report the towtruck driver as well! I took my Radar Detector and Head Unit Faceplate off when he towed it. I forgot my cds in there, but nothing was taken.

I hope it is better soon man.

Check your laws, 20FS. As far as I know, legally an insurance company can't restrict where you go to get the work done. They usually do have things set up with certain shops that they know will give them a deal, but they can't tell you that you HAVE to go there. As long as the body shop you choose doesn't way overbid the job, it should get approved.

That is some scary body work - I can see the misalignment of the front end in pics - I can only imagine how bad it must be in person.

Here in NY, it is 100% illegal for ANY insurance company to force you to use a particular repair shop. You should check the laws where you live. If they are the same (and I'm betting they are), first, DON'T DO ANYTHING. First, get your car fixed - bring it back again and again until it is 100% perfect. If possible, make sure they don't use any aftermarket parts - you car should be returned to pre-accident condition - that means only genuine Mazda parts. Don't settle for less.

Once you car is perfect, then drop that crappy insurance company and report the incident to your state's insurance council. Insurance companies are notorious for this kind of crap - the reps make their own little side deals with ****-*** body shops, and then try to force people to use them. It is illegal - do your part to stop it.

I do have a question for you though - are you physically okay? Did you get hurt in the wreck? I ask because I am curious how crash-worthy the P5 is, and if the driver is safe in an accident. Oh, yeah - and I'm hoping you were okay, too.

1: Chumpman: i was doing like 50KPH then i slamed on my breaks when the person turned left infront of me so it musta been like 35-40KPH? i think the airbags deploy only if your engine gets moved, im gonna claim the stolen property 100 dollars deductable and its worth $600 CAD, im thinking of getting a pioneer deck 7400

2 hihoslva: i am physicaly okay, no scratches, i wasn't hurt at all, ppl in my car (not wearing seat belts, those idiots) they were not hurt either... the car get damaged real easily so i take it that is the trade off, the PR5 is very good in accedents protecting the passengers

Good to know that this seems to be a safe car in bad situations. I only hope I never have the opportunity to find out for myself....

As far as the airbags - most systems I know of work off of a three-sensor system in the front bumper - one on each side, and one in the middle. You need to bump two or more to have the bags deploy. I believe car makers have been making the sensors lees sensitive nowadays - too many complaints about the bags deploying when they weren't necessary - and probably pressure from insurance companies, too, because they are damn expensive to fix.

Two examples - I was in a very low speed front end accident with a 1998 (?) Cavalier - rental car. Probably 5 MPH, seriously. Well, the hood bent a bit, the bumper cracked, and both airbags deployed - and the bag covers cracked the windshield. Total damage: $2700. Not that I had to pay it, but damn - that's a lot of money for a "fender bender", and nearly $1800 of it was just replacing the airbags and windshield.

My buddy, on the other hand, drunk-drove his 1997 Vette off the road, through a chain-link AND post & rail fence, onto a golf course. He hit the hill of a sand trap, and sent the car airborne. Every single panel of the car was fubar, the windshield was shattered, the suspension had damage - can you say $14,000 in damages? And the airbags never deployed!!

Who the hell knows. Glad to hear you're in good shape, other than the body shop hassles.

Man I thought my accident was bad...
I am only up to $9,500 for my repairs and I took my car to the MOST expensive shop in the area.It just happened to be a preffered one of theirs(of the 6 total shops in the area).
The last time I saw my car It wasn't totally complete but they took the time to blend the paint into the doors so there is no visible difference between the factory and the re-paint( I couldn't tell and I am **** about my car).
AND get this;the insurance company guarantees the work for life(of the car),the body shop guarantees the work for life(again of the car),And Mazda will guarantee everything for the entire warranty on the car because the body shop is certified out the yin-yang(and they were planning on using OEM before I said that was all I wanted).

AND now that I think about it, this is the 3rd or 4th thread about somone getting their P5 smoked....I think it's a conspiracy, who's with me???

Good to hear you're alright dude... and it's actually comforting in some twisted way to hear that my P5 performs well in accidents...
anyways, hope your car audio insurance works out better than your body shop... and yeah, about the DEH-7400MP, I've used it, but i like the Alpine CDA-7894 better... just my 0.02
