So what if you turbocharged the LS1?

If you want the playing field to be equal...

Actually, I was assuming the "rated" power instead of your "conservative" number. I wonder what the "conservative" number of the RX-7 is? Anyway, it doesn't really matter. What does matter is I would much rather drive an RX-7 than a Camaro, and I've owned 3 Firebirds in different flavors over the years. The two cars don't even compare. So, here's another statistic to munch on: an LS1 is 305 HP / 5.7 litres = 53 horser per litre; a rotary is 255 hp / 1.8 litres = 141 horses per litre. So an equally sized rotary would produce 803 horses!

Isn't this stuff fun?
actually that's 1.3 liters for the 13B

although some think it should be considered 2.6....

O.K., I call UNCLE! Yes, i mis-typed 1.8 instead of 1.3, but that wasn't the whole point. My whole point of going off on this tangent in the first place was to say Mazda can make a really fast, extremely well-engineered car, that they're not always behind everyone else. Having said that, I also wish my Protege' had some more ponies. But I think it's a great daily driver.

Now can we talk about chicks or something else?

p.s. 255 horses / 1.3litres = 196 horses/litre - even better! (hehe)

I just picked up an '03 P5 and am very happy with it's overall performance. If you are an enthusiast, the ideal situation is to have a car like the P5, fun and quiet, with your ballistic missle at home when you need it.

For example, when I want to haul stuff and commute 100+ miles a day I drive my P5.

When I want to go crazy and beat vettes and sportbikes, I drive this: My Turbo Toy
