what, me? I haven't hand washed my car in.. 6 weeks?? (and I've only gone to one manual wash bay spray crap thing in that time) That's with my trip from Rochester - northern NH - Montreal - NH again - CT - Rochester - Toronto - Rochester (a lot of that was driving in the dark of course so it was bug craziness).

Plus my car hasn't had a good vacuuming in months and I was living at the beach house for a week so there's all sorts of sand in the car still :P

Trust me, I love keepin my car clean but sometimes I just don't have the time. Since I do this weekend it's getting done finally

You'd understand if you didn't have the Mazdaspeed axleback.

We weren't really racing or anything, but I figured on a bike he'd be able to keep up... dude was riding that thing like a grandma lol

That mazdaspeed rear sway (combined with mazdaspeed springs and illuminas that have been on since the middle of last year) seriously transformed the car. It's SERIOUSLY neutral, with a little understeer if you over cook it, and with just enough rotation with a tap on the brakes / throttle lift when you need it. It'll definitely carve some corners. Granted, it's no maita, but that's a whole different beast of a suspension
I have Tokico HPs, MSP springs, the Mazdaspeed front/rearsways and AXR's rear bushing relocation kit. You are right, the car is awesome. Funny thing is, last night when going out to dinner I took a corner a little quickly in the Speed6 to make sure I could get in front of a car. My gf says you need to stop thinking this car corners like the Protege. I looked at her and asked how she knows how it corners. She just gave me one of those little woman smiles...

what's wrong w/ the mazdaspeed axle back? I used to have it. It was a bit too droney for me w/ lots of highway driving, but on the twisties it sounded t3h nice

I wash it twice a week in the winter.. in the summer, being garaged all the time (except for the past couple weeks when I was all over the northeastern section of the continent), and not driven in the rain unless I gotta go to work (which is a lot.. Rochester is way rainy), the car stays decently clean.

I actually had visible brake dust on one of my wheels (yes, just one, I have a partially-seized rear caliper) and everything :P

As for the Mazdaspeed axleback.. it's fine if it's the only thing you have, though even then it's way loud at low RPMs, makes you sound like a ricer driving in city traffic ..loud on the highway too lol. I just hate it because it prevents you from doing anything else to the exhaust because then it gets ridiculous.. I only lasted a month or so with my header before I broke down and got the racing beat catback.

Header + high flow cat midpipe + racing beat catback is quieter than just the mazdaspeed axleback but.. it's a nicer sound too. If only the racing beat tip wasn't pulled straight from their miata catback, oval + Protege5 = wtf?

Nothing wrong with a little brakedust.

I like the progression of my rims: silver --> titanium --> gunmetal --> flat black, I get the whole spectrum of ricer wheels.

Segue: today I stripped the hatch of interior panels in preparation for tomorrow's install.

Dude I'm serious, I really don't hear much of anything like most people describe. A co-worker of mine just bought a Scion TC and his Injen intake sounds freakin' awesome!! Mine's just bleh ..

And as for the Mazdaspeed axleback, I really don't think it's that bad either. I've had it on for almost two years and I think it sounds great. I have it coupled with a 2.5" Megan catback and it doesn't sound any different than it did when I had the stock pipes. It's just loud enough but not too loud, and I seriously experience absolutely no droning on the highway that most people complain about. It purrs like a kitten ..

Seeing as how you're such an obsessive cleaner, I'll go ahead and just ask what the hell you use to clean the brake dust?!? I have a chrome lip on my rims and it's covered in brake dust cuz I don't clean my car near as much as I should .. so is there some magical product out there that gets that **** off easier?

Well since my wheels are painted (aside from the polished inside lip) I don't use any special products at all. Why not just.. use the same soap you use on the rest of the painted surfaces of the car? I have a separate wash mitt that I use on the wheels and sideskirts so I don't muck up the other one.

My wash regimen is really pretty simple:
- wash with meguiars wash stuff
- dry car with 'the absorber'
- polish/wax with Turtle Wax Ice (every time I wash it)
- Clean windows with Stoners Invisible Glass
- clean the tires (Stoners 'More Gloss' (or is it 'More Shine')) and then wipe it off so the tires aren't ridiculous looking.

nothin crazy

The regular stuff doesn't work that good on the chrome surface for some reason. I use some RainX car wash soap and it does a good job on the rest, but always leaves little specs of brake dust on the chrome part of the wheels. I was just curious if there was somethin else you used for that specifically .. that's all.
