I love how the OEM calipers are that green color.. that's how they are in all the pics I've seen of them, yet from the factory on the car none of them were :P

I think it looks amazing because I don't think I have ever seen a 3rd gen ES 02.5+ in sand mica.. then with the 03.5 msp stuff and soon fully charcoal interior it's just so good

It's only fair, you make me really want a Protege GT or any 4wd 1st gen Protege and the bumper/grille/headlights/corners you have. I would rallycross it, autocross it, etc and well I wouldn't have much of a use for my third gen at all (it gets 36mpg highway and is sorta fast but that's not really that useful :P)

I miss my old 94 Protege. It was a DX teal with Corksport short throw and PRM intake. It was a fun little bastard. We took the backseats out, spare tire gone, and essentially all useless parts. It kept spitting spark plugs out so I figured it was time to send it packing. It only cost me 100 bucks so I sent it packing. I love my MSP though.

I know I am double posting again and I always apologize. I also apologize that this might not be the right place to ask this question but I don't know where else to ask...
Has anyone played Forza Motorsport 1 or 2? I know that in one they have the MSP and in 2 they have the MP3. I also happen to know that in 2 (possibly one as well) you can do motorswaps. So... can you swap the motors in the Proteges?

Also the car in Forza2 is the Mazdaspeed Familia (no turbo, same HP as the MSP but same torque as a normal Protege). It only comes in Laser Blue but you can repaint the car.. I'll see what I can do to get spicy orange and let you know. I can take a photo of it in-game and put it online for yout o see. You could buy the mazdaspeed familia, paint it orange, get wheels that look similar to the MSP wheels (you can get Racing Harts but not the MSP model wheels), and turbo it
Body-wise the Mazdaspeed familia looks like a blue MP3 with bronze wheels.. so exact same body as your car
attached is when I tried to see if you could make the car Sand Mica (just for you Derek :P )

You're asking if you can do a swap in real life right? The answer is of course yes .. but not very cost effectively. There's very few motors out there that will just drop in and bolt up without too much messing around with wiring, transmission swaps, axle swaps, etc. One of your options would be the JDM FS-ZE but it would be hardly worth it cuz it's 99% the same as the USDM FS-DE we have in our P5/MSP/MP3s. I think it just has more aggressive cams, so most of the additional power is in the cams and tuning.
Another popular option that's been done by a few is the KL-ZE swap which is a 200HP V6 from MX-6/Probes but it's not a very easy swap. You have to redo all the wiring and more, so by the time you're done with it your out of pocket expenses are somewhere around $5-$6K. With that money you're better off building your internals and upping the boost in your MSP, cuz you can easily add another 30HP to your MSP for that money.
So your final answer is that engine swapping in Proteges is not very popular due to the lack of swappable engines, and the cost/work associated with the ones that may work. It just ends up being a better deal in the end for you to build what you currently have and keep the FS-DE.
