What have you done to your 3rd Gen today?
*only if I have a second car or can easily take public transport to work.
Well thats why I ask you fellas questions. So I'll just stick with the stock settings and just get some bolt on stuff like FM intercoolers and such. That'll do. As soon as my 1987 Dodge Colt Vista (with 101K original miles) gets a tune up and a new tranny, I'll drive that full time and start making my MSP a little racer. My Dodge is below pictured all the way to the left.

Ok, I have a question, turbo gurus.
Say you crank the boost on a stock MSP up to the point where it makes about the same power as an MSP at stock boost but with a nice FMIC and full exhaust, like Chris' setup. Since the mechanical stress on the parts is the same, why is the former case more prone to failure? Clearly there's more heat generated; is that what causes internals to fail?

The problems come when you get to like 220-240 on the stock ECU and you don't have a wideband or any way of knowing what is going on with the engine.
So basically, if I keep the stock boost setting at 7psi. I add a cold air intake, front mount IC, and a nice throaty exhaust, I should be ok? I was thinking of just fronting some decent cash and taking it to a shop who could add the parts AND tune the ECU or add whatever components needed.

Define "North Georgia". We have weekly get togethers in / around Atlanta, along with the bigger, less frequent autocrosses, trips to Road Atlanta to watch races, mountain runs, etc. Unfortunately, most of 'us' aren't members of this forum. Check out the Georgia Forum on that other site. We've got a really good group out there
Well tell you what, when is the next autocross? (I know they have them at Turner Field but I can't find the info on them) Anyhow, I can give you my number when something turns up. I live in Oakwood.
