Personally, I've never seen it as a gay car. However, it's always been a little too 'malibu' for my liking.

It sure can kick it in the corners though.

Dude, seriously? I wish someone could expain the 'gay' stigma on that car to me... I mean, no it doesn't have 30000 WHP or anything, but it's the most fun car I've ever driven! gay = fun?

I think it got a 'gay' car stigma because it seemed to appeal to more women when it first hit the market. I have never been a fan of them but I'll tell you when I picked up my P5 from dealership back in March, there was newly traded in 2004 MS Miata (not sure if it is still called that) and it was the ****. Couldn't believe just how cool it was. Racing hart wheels stock, that awesome red paint, it was really sweet. But if the early models are anything like the TR6's and MG's then they must be a blast to drive. However I've always been a fan of the Monster Miatas though, that much power in anything is just cool.

I think it's just because of the shape and design. It's designed as a cute little car, with only 2 seats. The lack of aggresive styling, and it's uses in movies and tv have gotten the car quite the stigma. Convertable'ness doesn't help.

Macho guys already think most asian cars aren't 'manly enough', so if they see 2 guys in a cute 2 seater, the impressive brains of these jocks instantly goes to the only insult they know, which is of course "nice ***-car ***".

Of course, none of the namecallers have ever driven one.

I know when my friend got one (91 red (hard top and soft top) absolutely mint, not a speck of rust ANYWHERE) the first thing we did was go to starbucks and then we went to the mall to the apple store. The only thing we didn't do was go antiquing lol

miatas are fun as friggin hell though. If I find a suitable one to trade my P5 for I'd totally do it
