weird noises and retarded cops

Just got back from my 1st protege road trip to Dallas and back. On the way home, an ******* cop pulled me over and wrote me a warning for - get this - 74 in a 70 on a back Texas highway. I wanted to ram his damn cruiser.

Anyway, when crusing at high speeds (around 70 mph), I noticed a few things. First, when I would punch it to pass someone, I noticed a rattling noise inside the engine compartment. The only thing I think it could maybe be is the wires for my new fog lights, so I'm going to go secure those wires soon. But the other, more annoying noise was a whistling sound anytime I accelerated at around 70 mph. It would go away when I let off the gas, then start again anytime I pushed the pedal. Anybody ever experienced these noises before?

I just got done with my first road trip recently and didn't notice any sort of rattle or any other odd noice. I was cruising at around 80 and had no troubles when pushing the accelerator. Cops can be dumb sometimes........makes you wonder why they don't have anything better to do....at least you got a warning though, I got a.....get this.....$15 ticket for going 4 over. Yea, I was pissed.

if you have an aftermarket stereo its feedback from something, if you have an airleak from your doors it could be that, if you have something on your spoiler you can get a sound from that, the best thing to do is just look around your car and see if anything is out of place, alot of times its just really something stupid, i've had all those problems before, nothing to get alarmed about really.

i noticed a ton of rattles on the first roadtrip in this car a week ago, turns out it was just the golf clubs and keychain. Only problem is it is running too high of rpms at only 80. I love the handling, and the tires make sure you hear the rumble strips

LOL? that's weird, usually the engine is roaring when I hit the accelerator from 120kph. I have a 2002 ES, auto. I really don't notice any rattling, but the engine seems to vibrate a lot anywhere past 5000rpm. If it still bugs you, I recomend you put that new stereo to good use and crank it up when ever you do that, it's sure to drown out whatever noise may be bugging you.

Looks like you have a roof rack up there? Could that contribute to the wind noise, perhaps?

Maybe you can check this part of the Protege FAQ about TSBs,
http://web2.iadfw.net/emann/protegefaq/tsb/ ,
there is one about a noise at 45 and 75mph .. ?

I notice some rattling/very light cranking noise from the engine too when I am in 3rd gear and with the gas pedal pressed kind of deep.
Any idea what noise is that?
