That looks like a red Protege sedan to me.

 

It's definitely a Protege, just look at the tailights and location of the muffler. If that picture is from 1999, it's probably the Mazda Protege Street Concept.

but without the body kit...and the spoiler...hehe

 

I was at this auto show. It is not the Protege Street Concept. It was just an ES dressed up with supposedly "available" aftermarket parts from some big name manufacturers designed specifically for the Protege. The auto show was in Jan. 99 and I bought my ES the next month. Needless to say, these parts never showed up on the market. The Street Concept came out later and looked much more aggressive. Here are pics of the Street Concept.

BTW, the pic is name "mazda-3.jpg" because it is the third Mazda pic in his portfolio.
