you should be able to run 9-10 psi on stock internals,just dont use one of those home made boost controllers or you risk spiking which could be dangerous...best bet is the 3" exhaust...best would be turbo-back, not cat back, and the injen CAI...with that alone you should easily be boosting 7-8 psi regularly, and it will rev really clean...dont recommend a lightened flywheel, not that great for daily driving,or smaller rims...part of the reason this car corners so well is the footprint...definitely do the flash, and a FMIC is a great mod!!

thanks for the help everybody. i will probably wait for now, but sometime in the future i will put a bigger exhaust and try to find a good boost controller. like daddyslomo said, most of the boost controllers i hear about are home made and cheap pieces of crap.

look people you can run upto 10 pounds easily on stock internals for our car, i have done my research but!!!!! and i do say but because some one might try what i am about to tell you and miss the most important step listen carefully, 6-8pounds can be ran easily without changing anything, 9lbs and up you will need to get a 4mm copper head gasketto lower the compression a bit more for you so that you wont have to tear the motor apart, BUT the most important when runnig on higher pounds is that your fuel for all your gears cannot be leaned out in any sort shape or form if this is not done you wiil have to come up with another 3-4k to get your car on the road again.

for the fuel each gear cannot be running lean in ne way due to the fact that if the proper amounts of fuel is not being kicked out by the injectors you will mess up your internals. but in your case seeing that you have a speed your best bet is to run a t-valve in your vac-line and get you computer programed and you will get a quite a bit of juice by doing that.

So for the 1.6 liter Protege, the Wagner kit is best right? Its the stage one kit that boosts 6-8 psi on stock internals and comes with the FMIC and other goodies. How good of a mod is this flash thing? Where can one go to find an ECU from a MP3? Will it work on a Pro sedan?

The ecu will not work on an automagic tranny! Plus the mp3 ecu raises the timing..wich is a big no no..for forced induction & nitrous!

has anyone [who is currently running a turbo setup] tested their injectors to see if they are maxing out?

Why won't the ECU work for auto trannies?

the consensous on protege5.com is that the protege ecu also..controls the gear shifts of the automagic tranny's!

FMIC=Front Mount Intercooler

Mainly used w/ turbo's..but have seen them on Supercharged Vehicles!
