Tokigi Racing and KartBoy
Hi All,
Just wanted to say thanks to Jim from Tokigi for his help in ordering the kartboy short shifter and bushings. He was a big help and very responsive to all my stupid questions
Anyway my shifter's going to ship on Monday
and I should be installing next week. Anyone have any hints on installs? Does KartBoy send good instructions? I notice there aren't any on their website.
Anyway thumbs up to Jim. I'll let you all know what the shifter is like when all installed!

I just got done putting in a Kartboy shifter and bushing kit on my P5. The link above for shifter is good and bushing install link is on the Kartboy site.
Hardest part was getting the console off. Be real careful at the front part under the radio. To get the console off try the following:
1. Lift out the cup holder part
2. Lift out the piece around the emergency brake
3. There are six screws. Two are from the top exposed by removing the cup holder, two in the back on the sides and two up front on the sides. You need to pop off the cover caps to get to the two up front on the sides. Look carefully and you can see where the caps are slotted to fit in a small screw driver for pulling off. Leave the shift boot on the console (obviously the **** must be screwed off).
4. Getting the snap ring out is a pain. You MUST have snap ring plyers (got mine at Autozone). Like the instructions say while squeezing with the snap ring pliers, pry with a smallish thin blade scewdriver. Hope yours comes out easier than mine. Fortunately it went back in very easily by inserting first at a 45 deg angle to get the ring in the groove, then dropping in while squeexing.
However, the slight pain is well worth the gain. This is an unbelievable improvement. The bushings alone provide a tremendous improvement.

Well sad to say but I wimped out and got my dealer to install the shifter and bushings.
Started thinking about warranty and my tendancy to loose it when faced with hard install stuff.
Anyway it cost me $45.00 Cdn for the install.
Love it so far. Can't believe the difference in the shifter characterisitics. Bushings make an insane difference as well.
Anyway thumbs up on the choice. If you are thinking about getting a short shifter please do it you won't regret it I swe

man you shoulda just installed it yourself, you don't even need snap ring pliers.. you just get needle nose pliers (like me) to get the job done.
