Thule Roof Rack for Protege Sedan

Hey Guys,

Anyone else have any similar experiences with a Thule Roof Rack? (I got it to carry my kayak).

1) The instruction sheet says to locate the front bar forward enough that you can't pull out the radio antenna. What's up with that? I need my radio antenna extended!

SO, I located the front bar backwards a bit until I could get the antenna out.

BUT

2) Now I get a lot of wind noise, especially with my sunroof open.

I'm thinking of getting one of the Thule Spoilers, but am not sure if it will work/fit with my "modified" front bar location.

Does anyone else have any similar experiences, advice, tips, or tricks? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Eric

my roofrack experience is limited to the stock P5 rack....it has horribly noisy and a waste for me since I don't even own a bike or boat. I removed it and I'm very happy now.

thule

You will alwaysget noise. The spoiler (fairing) does help a little bit. Play with the position of the fron bar, I install mine where the antena bends a bit to get under the bar. The racks work great but they are not the very areodynamic.

I found that with my rack and spoiler on, that if I strapped down the "deflector" thatpops up with the sunroof, it makes considerably less noise.

I have the Thule rack system for my mp3. I have a snowboard and ski carrier on it.

Mine makes a slight noise, but i feel it is from the awkward shape snowboard holder.
