Stock Mazda CD players....

Is it just me, or do Mazda's stock players skip more easily than any other car? Mine is definitely pissing me off!!!!!

Mine hasn't skipped once. I have had it for 3 weeks and driven 1500 miles. Mine is a 6 disc changer but I don't think that would make a difference. It didn't even skip when I hit a 2-3 inch bump from new pavement at 45mph. That made such a loud thud I thought my tires were gonna be gone.

lucky....mine skips like there's no tomorrow....EXTREMELY sensitive to the slightest scratches on the CD when no other CDplayer will sense it.
Same with my friends' 2001 Protege....skips so easily....so i'm wondering if we're just jinxed

Mine skips if the CD is really dirty or scratched. I had a '99 Sony ES C780 w/ 3 sec ESP and it was about the same for playing CDs. I've found that ours are decent enough (if a little underpowered).

Ive had my P5 for about 8 mths, and it NEVER skips. I mainly use TDK and Memorex cdrs, and sometimes cheapo Office Depot cdrs. I also use Memorex Cdrws without a problem. Are you riding near the mountains...?

Mine skips occasionally, but very consistently if I have a CDR in and I hit a big bump, it'll skip. Pretty much never skips otherwise.

Mine NEVER skipped, but as soon as I started having problems with the LCD, I noticed it skipping a few times now. Probably coincidence though.

I'd have to agree. I've never had a problem with CD's skipping unless they were seriously scratched up and abused. Can you get a CD lens cleaner disk maybe the problem is dirty CD's leaving a residue on the lens and causing problems.

hey i'm new here.... but i haven't had a problem with my cd player skipping. i've had my protege for 4 months. this has nothing to do with this but i noticed when it was cold here that it would grind going into 2nd. after the car warms up it is fine. have you all had anything like that?
