Hi everyone,


For some time now I've been hearing a high-pitched squeal noise when downshifting from 3rd to 2nd. The squeal can be heard at about 13mph.

The squeal also appears at that speed when accelerating, but is less present.

To this date, I've had a mechanic look at this, but he told me this kind of sound is "normal" with manual transmissions.


Am I crazy to think it doesn't sound normal? What should I look at?

No. Not normal. Next time it is doing it - push in the clutch and tell us if the noise suddenly stops or not.

To answer your question, as soon as I push in the clutch to disengage it, the squeal stops

Must be a bad bearing in the tranny. bummer. Take it in to the shop.
