Sport 20 Ram Air

I was surfing the Mazda Japan website and came across this version of their Sport20 Familia. It has the non-painted grill piece, the sedan headlights, and these wierd looking ram air duct things where the foglights usually are. Anyone know what's up? I think it looks cool as hell myself. Maybe functional brake ducts for once?

And here's a shot of their up-level 4WD Familia. Like it's "supposed" to be.

Also, I thought the Sport20's had the taillights with the strip of clear and not the USDM ones with the circles. MAybe this changed for 2003?

The whole site is in japanese, so can someone help clear all this up for me? Jesse? Edwin?

That's right at least in European models. Taillights changed for 2003.

If Mazda got on the ball and actually was the first Japanese car manufactuer to bring over ALL their upper level cars over, they'd dominate the small car market.

For example, Honda with the Civic SiR, or how about Nissan with the Siliva.. Let alone the Skyline...

Ya know?

The pic you have is of the Familia RSs, a step down from the sport 20. i comes with the blue interior you have pics of. the front bumper is our bumper with out the foglights. in place of the fog lights they have the black mesh grill, the same stuff as in the middle of ours. hope that helps.

I think the tailights changed with the facelift in 2001, the same year 2001 Protege sedans were facelifted here in NA.

Do the grills snap on top of the foglight holes, aor is a totally different bumper required? (Basically, what do I need to make it work.)

they fit into our fog light holes, just search for MP3 conversion or something along those lines for part numbers.
