Something that has been bothering me....

I have been forgetting to post about this for a long time - very small annoyance, but I wonder if I'm the only one:

On the inside of the fuel filler door, there is a place to store the fuel cap while gassing up - I've seen this on many many vehicles.

But the tether on the cap is not long enough to reach! If I take the gas cap off, I can't put it in the "storage" spot while fueling, because the plastic lanyard that holds the cap on the car is not long enough.

Am I the only one with this stupid issue?

In two years, I never bothered to fix it - I know I could just cut the cord and be done with it. But I'm just wondering about it.

Ya I've noticed that one too... the thing is that I only think of it when I go to fuel up and then forget about it til the next time....

At least it seems to be the same on every car - I was wondering if it was just mine - never heard a complaint from anyone else before.

One of these days, I'll just snip the damn thing, or extend the tether. 2 years though, and I ain't done **** about it - wonder how long it'll take me to get around to actually fixing it....

I cut that damn tether the first time I put gas in the car. Now I'm aways knocking the cap out of the holder with the gas nozzel. Every fricking time I do, the damn thing rolls under the middle of the car and I have to get on my belly to reach it. So you're damned if you do and you're damned if you don't.

Do the sedans have the holder too? I never bothered to look. That tether is WAY too short, though, and it doesn't bend at all, especially in the winter.

I dunno, but I think they expect it to eventually break off, so there's both the tether and then later on the holder for it

Same thing on our Pontiac Grand Prix. Cap was tethered and had a rack on the back of filler door. But the stupid tether was a little too short. I don't get it??????
