something bothering me.. why?

i want to put this out.. why do parents buy their spoiled *** kids cars!!??
new or slightly used.. why??

(im not jellous or anything just.. how is it supposed to make a kid resposible to full effect?)

i worked my *** of for 2 summers doing tree services and landscaping pulling 10 hour days, while trying to keep a min. wage job on weekends just to buy my protege.... even though now its usless for me to keep it now in its condition.. it built character
i was givin some of the REAL world resposabilities, half forced by parents

and a couple (certain) newbies at my school gets their license's and both brand new scion (something) w/ a cell phones all expenses payed by his and her parents..

seriously.. what in this fking world would make a parent spoil a kid that much.. that also works at a wendy's and really hasn't seen or done a hard days work

what will they learn if "mommy" and "daddy" keep buying them **** (paying for insurance also).. i DO NOT get this new day and age...

Not all kids are spoiled and not worthy. I know I will buy my son any car truck he wants (with in reason) as long as he is good in school and stays out of trouble. As long as they so responsability I don't see any harm in it.

Oh and my parents didn't buy me a car. My first car was a 71 datsun pickup and I had to pay them back. It was 300.00 LOL And I loved the **** out of it!

this is aimed directly to new cars,, and used cars at least (model years) 4 years behind current year (ex.. 2005-06, new. 2001-05 used.) early 90's and under dont count.. 10 years and under models are alot cheaper on insurance... in your case your parents are looking out for you and themselfs...

like i said, aimed at current and at least 4 years under current...

i know its a very bad subject to ramble about. but i gotta let it out..
(been on my chest for a f**kn year)

basicly aiming torward people who "show off" something paid for by their parents

like "hey check out my new car".... giving posession to something they havn't worked for... (physically, not mentally)
*i think mentally is what im looking for*

I understand, its not a bad subject, its just something on ur mind, yeah i see alot of honda people around here, gettin a manual new Honda with a fart can on it..or a stock new RSX manual...it pisses me off...but oh well....Im not fond of new cars anyways...

Remember if its on your mind its worth rambling over...like the thread i made about why people attack the outside...but leave the engine alone..

anyways, hope ya feel better.....

This will sound bizarre to a lot of you, I know, but neither of my parents drove. My dad worked in a relatively low-paying position but was able to walk to work each day, as it was less than a half-mile away. My mom was stay-at-home (well, when I was a child anyway).
I grew up thinking it wasn't all that strange at the time...
I was the first person in my immediate family to own a car. My parents bught it from my grandfather (1964 Buick LeSabre!) for $150. But I paid for my own insurance, gas, &tc.
Now, I have a 17 year old daughter. She is a good kid, doesn't drink, smoke, do any drugs at all (her mouth is another story!) She has a part-time job at a hair salon and dances 3-4 days/week.
We originally gave her my wife's old 1992 Corolla, but she now has a 1997 Accord. We paid for the car and also pay for her insurance and maintenance. She pays for her gas. I don't really think I am spoiling her by getting her this car; because of her job and dancing lessons, it's just a lot easier for her to have it. I chauffered her and her friends ever since she's had a social life, and I need the break! Besides, I gotta chase her little sister around now, lol.

i guess my parents wanted me to rely on myself and myself oney... life sucks... but thats life

i still got my car for sale in regional (upper midwest) i took off alot of info (because slomo eased off the interest) but the pics are still up.. pm me if you want the info about it... you will need to get a motor for it soon..

I know what your talking about. My brother and I saved up for our 1988 Ramcharger (first vehicle for us to drive). No we didn't pay insurance, but gas and other stuff we did. I had a summer job washing cars and other stuff to help pay for things, but the Ram wass less than $5000 when we bought it. And I'd see these irresponsible kids getting new IS300s and BMWs right out of their new liscences and crashing them a week later, then get a new car around the same $30k price range...unbelievable.

I'd help my kid in getting a car assuming he was responsible and all, and no more than $5000. It would teach them to be responsible with small things and to appreciate and take care of what they have. I'd probably pay their insurance since my parents did (my mom needed a break from driving all of us brothers at two different schools around for sports and things. A third car was the best alternative).

That's what I think anyway....

my first car was a 1990 Chevy Cavalier...falling apart! everything would shake rattle and roll. it was horrible, but thats what i got for getting poor grades in school. now, i have an 02 protege. i turned my life around from being a stubborn little kid into someone with better grades and less of a temper/mouth. i worked at a minimum wage job (papa johns....they didnt even give me my 90 day raise!) for about 10 months and i would say a good 3/4 of the money i got from that i spent on the car for insurance and gas. when i get another job and start working full time, i begin paying for the car.

would you think im spoiled?

There has, is, and always will be kids that are 'spoiled'. Teenagers that somehow grow up with the mentality that just by their being here they are entitled to whatever their little hearts (little minds?) desire. I've seen kids in high school driving brand new Crapmaros, Mustangs, Bimmers, and Vettes! Unfortunately these were the same kids that ended up wrapping their little gems around trees or brick mailboxes. They usually got another brand-new-something paid for out of their trust funds or whatnot. I'm guessing that the parents were either too busy to notice what problems the kids were having with driving or they just don't care! Some of these 'spoiled ones' even think that this cash that they have come into since age 18 is some how a reflection on them as a person, i.e. they think they are the greatest and that this money is somehow 'theirs'. Usually all of this spoiledness comes from some great investments made by the spoiled brat's late-great-grandpa back in the good ol' days and now he is deceased and the money has been used to purchase a Z06 for a teenager with little to no driving skills...

But I could just be rambling on here...

p.s. IMO I think those of us who have to 'work for it' will usually come out with a better appreciation for things...

That is true.

When I was in high school, there was this kid who totalled two different Road Runners his senior year, both of them bought by his parents. And the little ***** got a third one.
And guess what, he was soooooo popular. He was such a tool, I hope the bastard is rotting somewhere in a jail cell...

And no, I'm not nor ever was jealous. He really was an *******.

i guess some are just more forunate then others. I was labeled as the "spoiled kid" and "rich kid" in highschool, becuz i drove a fixed up ride. I had a few nice cars while going to highschool, but i paid for them all. My parents didn't buy me ****, But still i was branded as a spoiled kid. I just had good paying jobs while in highschool, i made a lot of the money working everyday afterschool at an auto insurance company and stringing tennis racquets on the weekend. There are some of us that have nice cars( that some might consider spoiled), but we worked dame hard for them. So am i considered spoiled???

I don't think earning what you did makes you 'spoiled'. But I do know that there are some parents out there who are so busy with their own lives/careers/problems that they feel they have to buy their kids love, or give them what they themselves never had. So then they give their 16 year old a brand new Cobra, a Visa credit card, and a limitless cell phone and then say "have fun!". And they wonder why these kids end up dead.

I was lucky to even have a car in high school. My mom borrowed against her insurance and got me a $2,500 Cavalier. I knew that I had to keep it nice. Basically, no drunk driving, no crashing, keep up with the maintenance, etc. because there wouldn't be a quick replacement! I think I did pretty well too. I went to HS and college and worked a part-time job. Mom took part of the proceeds from the part-time job and put them away for college too... man that was a long time ago!
