No offence, but the protege shifts very easy with the exstension removed, my 115lb girlfriend can powershift it still. Come on lets not talk about it being hard to shift unless you have polio or something. No it doesn't change the fulcrum of the shift point but its free! Thats all I was trying to say, I know you like to blow your money but I was just trying to help. I had more fun spending that money for a b&m shift hit of my FS-ZE cams. We can see if your shifting advantage can overtake my top end gain? Hope somebody finds use in this other than a place to argue uselessly.

ok...im done arguing, this just goes to show that people have different opinions on what they like, and i cant legitimately say that you are wrong for liking your shifter the way it is, which is fine. and by the same token you have said "i know you like to blow your money", which is true. but we can both agree that the stock shifter is too high, so lets just leave it at that and walk away.....no more fighting

shortening the stock shifter will decrease leverage, which will make it harder to shift. At the same time it decreases the amount of distance the top end of the shifter must travel to select each gear, there by shortening the throw...

just my .02, but my B & M short shifter is a great value in increasing drivability and "fun Quotient" of this car. I can't believe the difference it makes. I am sure the Kart Boy shifter would offer the same kind of improvement...

I've only ever used factory and Kartboy (w/bushing) and I quite enjoy it (Kartboy, not factory

yeah, i have a feeling you are not going to get very many "i tried several options" posts with this. people tend to buy the one that they can:
a) get the best deal on, speaking of which anyone looking at a ss should go here
b) the one they saw everyone else has.
in this case I think you are pretty much only going to see b&m or kartboy. i personally like the kartboy because it is more economical for my budget, and you can get the bushings which are key.
