I'm not sure if i'm the only one who has this problem, but all my calipers are rusting up, and it doesn't look to attractive, click on the URL and there is a pic in my picture folder of one of the calipers, i've been looking at other Pro's and I don't see it very much at all, you would think Mazda would at least paint them since they know there going to be very visible, anyway if anyone else is having this same problem let me know.http://photos.yahoo.com/valentinoarmani

 

Maybe try a metal polish with a toothbrush to remove it.

I haven't any brake rusting problems and I think spraying rim cleaner on it occasionally seems to work well. I use SimpleGreen Wheel Cleaner, it cleans yet its mild enough not to strip any clearcoat. When spraying spray into the brake assembly also, at least thats what I do. Leave it to soak for a couple of minutes then rinse throughly. Make sure you dry the brakes afterwards by applying slight brake pressure often, to help the discs get warm and evaporate any water.

 

As for the intake, once you have the cone filter on you don't need the stock airbox and the silencer that goes over the radiator anymore.

 

How did you attach the custom intake? I was thinking of doing that but was afraid that it would bounce around. How did you attach the sensor before the box? Just drill a hole? Will it effect the ammount of fuel being delivered to the engine?

A little caliper rust is normal, especially up north with all the salt on the roads.

 

The only way to get the temperature sensor into a hole of any kind is to buy one of those Ractive Headshield filter and drill a hole in in then putting the temperature sensor in there. Make sure the tubing leading to the intake manifold does not rub against the master brake cylinder.

As for me I got the Ractive intake for $140CDN. Works well although slight modifications is necessary to make it fit.

 

Where did you get your reactive from??

 

The Ractive intake was designed for the 2.0L Protege's by a Ractive employee here in Toronto. A guy at Avante Mazda, here in Toronto, has connections with Ractive so he got alot of parts from them to sell. Check your Mazda dealer, I think some carry their products, as well as Eibach lowering springs and other mods.

I'll post the part number when I can find it.

 

That's excatly what I did Smithers, just drill a hole in the rubber part of the filter, I put it there cause I didn't want to put any holes in the stock tubing, and another thing the reason why I didn't take out the silencer over the radiator is beacause it's holding down the filter, if it wasnt't there the filter would just bounce all over the place.
