Talking roof rack photos !

I have finally got the photos of my racks ! Just go to www.imagestation.com and search "protege" and find "protege5 roof rack" under "wreckage". There must be an easier way to do this but these are the first photos I've posted on the net. I welcome any questions or comments !!

Cheers !

awesome!

Wreckage! Perhaps you should re-iterate exactly what components you're using for both the roof rack and the hidden hitch in this thread.

I know you mentioned it elsewhere, but in the interest of archiving, and having pictures and descriptions in one place it may be nice to have it again!

The pics look awesome btw!

I have a question - is there any way to get the bike rack in a little closer to the hatch? IMO, it sticks out way too far for my liking...

Is there a way of seeing all of the pictures in that particular gallery without having to sing in or join? All I see is the first one of the bike rack.

Re: awesome!

Yes you can get the rear rack closer to the vehicle. I just haven't had a chance to drill the extra hole in the base that will allow the whole works to get closer to the vehicle.
The roof rack is Yakima, the rooftop box is a Thule evolution 1600, the hitch is Hidden Hitch, and the bike rack is Swagman Twister XP.
Just a note to those thinking of a roof rack, if you opt for the Thule setup on top you can use a 50" bars vs. the 48" bars. This along with a slightly narrower box will allow you to get 2 fork mount bike carriers on top as well. I had that setup on our civic and it looked very cool. I just wanted to have the silver box on this one.

I think you can see all the pictures without joining ? I can when I visit the site without logging in. If you send me your e-mail I'll send you more pictures. I am a relative newcomer to posting pictures etc..

Yes it is the 1 1/4 " hitch ( which can hold up to 4 bikes ). Clearance wise I don't know the height but it has more clearance than the muffler. It hides away behind a nice clean looking cover when not in use, you hardly know its there.

very nice! what kind of ground clearance do you have at the back...is that the 1 1/4"? looks awful close to the ground.

Did you remove the factory roof rack or did it not come with one? I want to take the black parts that the rack attatch too off my car. Do you know how its done if so?

Our P5's do not come with racks in Canada. I have come across a very detailed step by step guide to removing the factory rack(somewhere but I can't remember where) , but I'm not sure if it was on this forum or not. I assume it must be ??
