Is the P5 a wagon or a hatchback? I think its more like a hybrid, half hatch back and half wagon.

This is of course all a matter of preference. I personally think that that the P5 is a more youth oriented car. I like the lines of the Sedan myself, I had to wait nearly a month for my ES, while I could have bought a P5 off the lot at any time, also there are quite a few P5's on the road around here. ES's are relatively rare. The ES has much smaller, less obtrusive fog lights. Also I'm not really fond of the look of the front of the P5. And the hatchback looks so 80's. That having been said both are quite handsome cars, and great fun to drive. Speaking as someone who is on his fourth Mazda, lets all hope that the new Mazda 3 will continue to uphold the great tradition of styling and drivability of its predecessors

chalk one more up for the P5. park the two next to each other and the P5 will get way more attention from any onlookers. the es is just blah. but if i could have gotten an mp3, msp or p5 i might have to ditch my P5. all good cars anyway.

You are probably right vivid, but I didn't buy my car in order to get looks, in fact I live in a place where parking a car that stands out too much on a lot is likely to result in a long deep scratch in your paintwork

Speaking of which, why do people like to key up other people's cars? I just don't understand it! I've already had my poor car dented , but I haven't a clue who did it. It makes me so angry that I want to do it to someone else's car, but I always stop because I realise that I wouldn't be getting revenge this way. I always carry a set of golf clubs in the back, and I've sworn to use them on the next car who's owner dents in my car. (After they've left of course.) But yea, just my little rant for the day.

I agree with Padanky's comments. Better polar moment of inertia probably makes the P5 feel like a superior handling car compared to a similar stock sedan. The P5 also has a good base content level.

OK this would only be possible if the engine ran at exactly 100hp as 10hp would then be a 10% gain, and only with the first mod cause then you will be at 110 and 10% would be 11hp.

What you actually need to know is which parts of the intake and exhaust systems of your particular engine are the most restrictive, replace those and that is where you will see the biggest gains. Some cars respond better to bolt on mods than others, the new SE-R spec-V with the SR25DET responds phenominally well to bolt ons where other platforms will yeild half the gains you would there.

As for the topic, I chose the p5, in AZ where I bought it there were literally 2 dozen sedans on the road no matter where I went, and virtually no p5's. The styling is better IMO as as it is closer to the MSP and I can fit so much more in the car as well as the aftermarket is ever growing for the p5.
sr25det?? That would be sweet but its not the motor in the new sentra ser. The se-r had the qr25de i believe.

Ok, looking in my owners manual, which i realize could be superceded, on page 10-6.

Sedan with 1.8 - 2.0 weighs 3,644
Hatchback with manual trans weighs 3,611

Sedan Front 1,947, Back 1,720
Hatchback Front 1,903, 1,720

Did not designate whether manual or auto for Sedan.

When I set out to buy my first car I knew I wanted a Protege b/c of it's awsome styling and, let's face it, hondas are too ordinary and ugly and toyotas put me to sleep with their boring soccer mom design. I wanted a Pro5 b/c it was something different and the versatility it offered was appealing b/c I ride BMX. However, when I went out to seriously look the cheapest Pro5 I could find was still 4 thou more than my ES with everything minus sunroof. Keep in mind I live in NE so the selection was limited and there were only 2 dealerships in the area (within 1 hour driving distance) and it seemed unreasonable to pay 4 thou more for the exact same car just with a hatchback. If they cost the same......Pro5.......but the sedan is just as sweet. My .02

These are gross weights, the amount of weight the axle can saftely carry. You can find the curb weight on various websites such as www.edmunds.com
