I'd definitely say it's a toss up between my Ferrari Enzo, my Lamborghini Murcielago, and my MacLaren F1... aw geez... who woke me up?!?!?!

I'd have to vote for the P5... more agressive styling. Better handling with strut bar. Far more functionality with the hatchback.

Yea right! I have a strut bar on my ES sedan, I really don't notice that much of a handling difference. As for weather the P5 handles better than the sedan. I doubt it. 80lbs. heavier and plus the wagon body shape drags up the center of gravity. So technically the P5 should be a worse handler than the ES sedan. But really when you take 2 average people and have them drive both cars, my bet is that they won't be able to tell the difference. It's like pepsi and coke. What's the diff?

Sedan.

Just cause I see at least 5-6 Protege5's a day and not many sedans.

More potential for the P5?? Wtf, they are the same car.

Oh wait, one is a station wagon.

Rep the sedans

yeah,it's a hatchback and a cool looking one at that. the sedan is just too boring looking...no fog lamps,no side skirts...im sorry dudes but it's just too plain looking for my tastes.
the p5 lookes more sporty!

I like the sedan myself. I never really cared for the look of a station wagon or hatchback. When I bought my car there were no 2001+ sedans in my area. Now there is 1 other but it has no fogs. There are 3-4 P5s that I see driving around.

jjac28, ES sedans come standard with fogs and they are optional on the other models.

Actually 80 lbs is about a 3% difference. This should give a small increase
in performance. (You must have seen the article where they slowly
strip down a Sentra and report on the performance improvements.) It
wouldn't surprise me if some of the magazines just tested one Protege
and assumed they all performed the same since they have the same
internals.

This is also true of horsepower. A modest additive gain can have a
large effect on a low horsepower car. Just 10hp is a 10% gain in power
for the protege. It's the percentage improvement that will be felt.
The difference between 300 and 330 horsepower is small. The difference
between 100 and 130 is huge. I'd be happy with another 20 hp in the
protege.

LOL
Just 10hp is a 10% gain in power
for the protege.
OK this would only be possible if the engine ran at exactly 100hp as 10hp would then be a 10% gain, and only with the first mod cause then you will be at 110 and 10% would be 11hp.

What you actually need to know is which parts of the intake and exhaust systems of your particular engine are the most restrictive, replace those and that is where you will see the biggest gains. Some cars respond better to bolt on mods than others, the new SE-R spec-V with the SR25DET responds phenominally well to bolt ons where other platforms will yeild half the gains you would there.

As for the topic, I chose the p5, in AZ where I bought it there were literally 2 dozen sedans on the road no matter where I went, and virtually no p5's. The styling is better IMO as as it is closer to the MSP and I can fit so much more in the car as well as the aftermarket is ever growing for the p5.

the P5 looks way better

The sedan looks about exciting as a 2000 Toyota Carolla, no styling at all.

There is more than the weight factor, there is weight distribution. The P5 is shorter that 80 lbs is probly placed forward of the rear wheels, I'm not saying I'm right. But I'm sure it counts for something.

Maybe aerodynamics, who knows!

There is definatly something else besides that 80 lbs!

I think the sedan has much more potential for exterior esthetics modifications. When you soup up a P5, it doesn't get very noticable souped up. When you soup up the sedan, people know you have done something. When I say not noticable, I mean to the general population, most of us club members should be able to spot a modded P5 anywhere. Plus you can't get a nice spoiler for the P5.

I have both, 5speed in the P5 - Auto in the ES. I'm a hatchback supporter all the way back to crx, subaru, celica, civic, and multiple rabbits. It is been a arguement between my father and I since My first car!!!!! He likes trunk Cars, I do not!! it is all opinion. I think they both look better than any other car in there Class.

Sedan > Wagon

I don't see too many sedans that are modified, just stock daily drivers. I see the p5 just about everyday. So it feels like I'm driving a rare car .

You can call it a hatchback but it will always be a wagon to me.
o well to each his own.

the votes are tied?!
crap
