paint issues

has anyone else had a problem with the paint on the P5. i got mine 2 weeks ago. ive been sick all last week, and today was the first chance i had to clean my car up. i started washing it, and while i was washing it, the paint on the front bumper started flaking off. i also found a place on the hood where paint was chipped or flaked off, and a place that looks like a bubble in the paint on the hood.
im taking my car by the dealer tomorrow, to get them to look at it, and hopefully get it fixed. hopefully they will replace the hood, and bumper, cause i think if they just touch it up, it will continue to do this.

that sucks . I hope they replace it for you. They SHOULD, since its pretty new. Its most likely a factory defect...

sounds like the car was in an accident and they tried to fix it and sell it. ie. fell off the truck :P

but my P5's paint does not deal with stones very well. It may have been my first road trip when the car was so new - fresh paint. oh well

p.s. why is my primer black? it's a silver car!!!

well, im definately going to press them to replace the parts. the spots on the hood arent that noticable till you get right up on it. the one that is noticable on the hood is where it looks like an air bubble was in the paint. its a circular crack in the paint about the size of the zero on a keyboard. the two spots on the front bumper are really bad though. they are slightly larger than the letter O on the keyboard, and within a half inch of each other.
i also noticed that the primer under the pain is black. it kinda sucks that it is too, cause that means that every little scratch you get int the car is going to be noticable if it gets to the primer.

im considering getting a cover for the front after they fix it. i dont know how much they will want for it from the dealer, but if they want too much, ill just get it off the internet. it doest look half bad.

and ya, they are lucky. you would never notice it on one of those. maybe i should have got the black one. if i had, i would have had to wait a couple of days though. at the dealer i bought mine from they only had about 10 on the lot, and somebody had keyed all but 3 of them really bad. the dealer said someone had keyed 38 cars the night before i bought my car. needless to say they were pissed.

I think so. If you observe scratched car bumpers (light colors) long enuff, u'll see that they're most likely black underneath. My sister's silver civic had black primer also, so did my friend's red toyota corolla.... that was enuff to convince me to get a dark colored car.

Yeah, I really wanted a silver in the beginning, but I know that my bumper will get scratched (no one ever hopes that will happen, but come on, u gotta be realistic sometimes )

dude, this story just keeps getting worse n worse, from paint problems to keying the car and a possible fall off the truck theory. that dealer just sounds horrible.

I dont have problems with my paint but you should be covered under warrenty although i havent red anyting specific.

They might try to pull some, 'you cant relate this to factory problem as this could have been caused by driving here so therefore its not covered by warrenty'

But make sure you DRILL THEM FOR REPAIR, if something did happen that theyre hiding from you they will most likly be inclined to help you out if you keep at it. Or they could be a heatless cold dealer. Good luck, im stuck with ideas though, i dunno ish about warrenty stuff (im more of audio and performance kinda guy, heh)

id be pissed though

i will definately keep my car clean whether i have a bra on it or not. especially considering where i live at when im at school. during the winter it snows a lot, so there is always salt on the roads, and there is always dust in the air during the summer that coats my car, because of a gravel lot next door. who knows what they will do. i figure the hood will be fixed for sure. the spot on it is definately a defect in the paint, and their is no way they can argue that. if they try and keep me from getting a new bumper, ill atleast op for a can of touch up paint, and a free bra for my car, which im sure would be cheaper for them than replacing the whole front bumer either way, im gonna come out of there with a something.
also considering that two of the last 3 cars my family has bought have come from that dealer, and all three of them have come from the same chain of dealers (Bob King in winston salem NC) i think that the threat of no repeat buying, and bad word of mouth might do something. after all, the customer is aleays right.

Don't mean to literally burst your bubble, but it's pretty common for a stone glancing off the hood to leave a mark like that. I had at least three of those on my Miata hood in the last year.

As TheMAN says...if you bra it, make sure you remove the bra every time you wash the car and wash the inside of it as well. EVERY time. At least weekly in the winter. The bra was originally designed by Porsche engineers to transport their cars. It was never intended to remain on the car for any length of time. If you want real protection, check out www.xpel.com .

Anyway, Mazda paint sucks...always has. It's really my only complaint about the cars.

Sounds like something from "Amazon Robot Women Gone Wild"
