p5 ignition switch

Under the steering column, remove the three screws and pull the two-piece assembly behind the steering wheel apart. In order to set this aside, you need to remove the little light that illuminates where you key goes.
Next, you'll see a wiring harness opposite where your key goes. Pull the little red tab back, push the white tab in and remove the harness. If memory serves, there's a black wire with a green stripe. That's the ignition wire. I believe it's third from the left on the top if you're looking at the front of the harness. One way to tell is make a small jumper wire and jump from the 12v lead to this wire and see if it turns over.
Why do you need to tap this wire?

thanks for the info.
the reason why im gunna need to tap into this wire is because i need to hook up my oil pressure and voltmeter gauge there.
by the way if i snap the the tap and remove the harness, will that in anyway mess up the whole "like" electrical system in the car, then that leading to warranty issues ???

Accually guys it's the big blue wire, not the black and green. That will be your best source. I just hooked my J&S Ultra Safeguard to it. According to the Wireing Diagram book, this is the one. Be sure to remember that this wire is a 12 gauge wire, and buy your taps accordingly.
