The notch is for fitment. If the notch end is up you will not get a proper fit and the bulb will jiggle around in the housing. The notch has to face downwards.

I get flashed all the time at night here -- probably from people who don't like that I drive with my fogs on. They're probably just jealous because they don't have any. I don't think my lights are that bright...

Your foglights are angled downwards. I hardly think that they would make anyone flash their lights at you.

I know they're angled downwards. No reason to make up a story why people would flash their lights at me, though. Guess you'd just have to be there to believe it.

People who drive with fogs on **** me off. Not enough to flash my brights but mostly cause they obviously know nothing about how fog lights work if they are using then all the time. All you are doing is burning them out faster.

I used to get flashed all the time. But I removed the headlights and did the whole put them in the oven to take them apart and paint them black.

Without all that chrome reflecting in all directions my beams are more focused in front. Besides i like the look of the blacked out lights better. They should have come that way or at least an option in the US.

After that mod I got less flashes. Then I lowered the Pro with Eibachs and now I rarely get flashed at all.

As for for lights I like the look of having them on. I even rewired them so that they can come on with just the parking lights.

Now I need to figure out how to keep the fogs on with the highbeams.

But back to topic the P5 has some extreamly bright lights. And the chrome around the headlights reflects in all directions.

Canadians shouldn't have this problem since their cars come already with the blacked out lights.

The blacked out headlights are on the 2002.5 and up models.

I have two cars: a 2003 Maxima with Xenon HID's and a 2003 MP5. I get flashed on two lane roads much more with the MP5 than I do with the Xenon'd Max.

I used to have a 1991 323 that got flashed a lot too, IIRC.

I tell you why you get flashed - it's because the factory sets the headlights too high. The first time I drove my P5 at night, I'm like "the alignment is way out of wack". After testing it on a wall and aligning them properly, they still allow me to see far but won't blind oncoming traffic.

And yes, I do get blinded by oncoming P5's.

master, could you share some tips on how to adjust the alignment? I have no idea where I can do the adjustment on my P5. Thanks!

Not sure, my friend/mechanic did it for me. But I'll take a look next time I see him.

If you look behind the headlight light housing you will see a brass coloured screw. Turn it to adjust your angle.

Or you can take it into your dealer and ask them to do it.

I think I 've tried to turn that screw for a few revs, but there's no effect on the aim. Should I turn it a few more time?

Pull you car up to a garage or a carwash station a few feet from the wall. Turn on your lights and adjust away! But I recommend not doing this because it's a pain in the *** to get them exactly the same unless you do a lot of tuning.
