Oil temp gauge?

I would love to have an oil temperature gauge in my 323F/Protege5.

Is it possible? easy? cheap?

Yes, a Oil Press. gauge would be pretty easy to do.. just pick up one of these pods! lol (what timing)

The thread is over here , let me know if you want it with the Oil press. gauge and I'll see if I can get you a price.

Inimical_01ES, read a little SLOWER.....he said oil TEMPERATURE....not pressure....but....you could still put it in the gage pod...

I would have one question....why? if you engine is within normal operating temps..(water temp) your oil is going to be fine...as long as there is the proper amount of oil in the engine. SO, other than just putting another gage on the dash....what would this really do for you?

could it be done? certainly it could, all you would need to do is aquire the gage you want and its sending unit....then find a proper spot to mount the sending unit.....it may take some custom work...but you could do it.

I've been told that oil takes more time to get warm, so I just wanted to be sure of the true temperature of the engine.

Also, my water temperature gauge goes from cold to middle (the normal position) very fast. I always wait a little, as it seems to me that the engine isn't warm enogh...

your engines water heats up rather quickly because your engine generates a LOT of heat....and you have a THERMOSTATE...it is closed when you first start your car....somewhat trapping the water in the block....then as it warms up the thermostate slowly opens up allowing more and more flow through the system....that is why it warms up so fast. and shows that on the gage.

YES, it takes a bit longer for the oil to be up to NORMAL temp....but not really that much longer.
