Angry oil leak!

Ok, I hope it doesn't seem like everytime I post a thread it is complaining. Anyhow, I have had this problem since the get go. My car has 8k on it and since about 2k I noticed a little spot in my garage... and I thought surely this is not from my new car! Well, it was a pea sized oil spot on the floor. Naturally, I was pissed and crawled underneath, noticing that the oil pan appeared to be getting all goobered up around the gasket or I guess in our cars where the pan is sealed to the botton of the engine.
To make a long story longer I took it to the dealer and they said, there is not leak. An obvious build up of oil is all around the pan, not from the drain-plug or coming down from the filter or anywhere else. They say until it actually "leaks", they can't replace it. They said all the pan bolts are tight. Their justification was that the cars are not built to very high tolerances and once it goes through a few "heat cycles" it should seal. What kinda BS is that? I had this flashback of dealing with the Ford jackasses!
Well, 5k later, it is the same, everynow and then I get a spot on the ground and around the top ridge of the pan, oil is built up and collecting dirt.

Has anyone else experienced this?
I am going back to the dealer in a week and demanding this be fixed!

Try going to a different dealership and maybe they'll want your business cuz people are like that. If a dealership fixes your problem with no hassle, then the customer will usually stay. But 3 years your car should be covered bumper to bumper (not including parts due to natural wear and tear).

DEMAND its fixed....Put some news paper in the car and a few bricks.....drive your car around and get it good and warmed up....then drive to the dealer and park your car and put the paper under the car where the leak shows up...hold the paper in place with the bricks....have someone drive you home...show up the next moring at the dealer....take the SERVICE MANAGER out to the car...or the OWNER if you hare getting the stupid excuses from the service manager....SHOW THEM the leak evidence on the paper....and THEN maybe they will believe you have a leak.

of course...IF it doesn't leak EVERYTIME you stop like that....you may want to check the paper out before you drag someone out to look at it! lol

Good suggestion Sir Nuke... but it is so sporatic. I mean wouldn't you think that oil crusted all around a brand new cars oil pan is enough to realize it isn't right? That is what I asked the dealer! The dealership is great, very well established. I am just going to have to get ugly with them I guess.

I think you should actually talk to the dealer that sold you the car. If he was a nice person, he can influence the mechanics...

My dealer was so good to me that he said anytime i drive by he'll have my car handwashed and vacuumed for free.

YES, I agree...it should NOT have any build up in that area...not at this point in its young life anyway.....get under there and clean it up really good....if there is much dirt/dust build up from it sticking to the oil it will act like a sponge and hold the oil and maybe not let it drip for a bit...but if its ALL CLEAN...and its leaking...it will drop the oil...nothing to hold it if its clean. :{D
