I would stay away from them. I did a search on google for "Adventon.com review" and "Adventon.com ratings", nothing useful came up. www.resellerratings.com and www.bizrate.com doesnt have anything on them either. I smell something fishy. Also, I have never heard of "Thawte" (secure SSL)

I don't know anything about AEM intakes, but my car is being fitted as we speak (or type) with an Injen intake by Injen engineers (my car is receiving the final production prototype). On this list from Adventon you posted, they show Injen intakes for the Protege5, MP3, and 1.6L Protege's in both polished and unpolished finishes. I don't think even Injen knows they sell an unpolished version.

Those prices are unbelievable though!

I said that I never heard of them before. I have purchased hundreds of items over the internet, and I have never came across a site that uses Thawte.

No, I've come across them a couple of times in my profession. You can imagine that customer data for a pharmaceutical company is *very* sensitive. We get dot.coms trying to sell us stuff all the time, and only about 10% survive our security audit. A couple of those have had the Thawte encryption.

I can assure you that the encryption is valid; I cannot, however, speak for the products offered on the site.

Thawte isn't encryption. They just sell certificates. This is a way to verify that a person is really who they say they are. You have to pass a minimal background check to insure the certificates are issued to the correct person. You then use them to "sign" your transmissions, software, e-mails, etc. indicating it is really from you. Microsoft and Verisign got into some trouble over this awhile back. Verisign issued a couple of Microsoft certificates to non-Microsoft employees that had access to sign programs. They could have used them to distribute viruses or whatever. Encryption methods are blowfish, RSA, etc. etc.

But hey, those are some awesome frickin prices. And the website looks legitimate. Try that 800 number on the top and make sure.

You would not notice it unless you were downloading software that was signed with one of their certificates. Secure server interactions do you not require verifiable certifications. They work on public/private key security.

I dunno, these guys seem alright. I haven't ordered from them but they're site looks decent. One thing I used to go off was toll-free numbers. If they're decent enought to have a tollfree number, they're probably decent enough to do business with. I'll probably order my AEM from them next month, so I'll let you guys know!

I'm seriously thinking about an intake from them as well. You'll have to let us know how it goes Chris.

I was over at Injen today picking up my car (with a new Injen CAI), and I told them about that site. They laughed when I told them the prices. They said they don't even wholesale their intakes for that little. They also found it funny when I told them this site was offering polished and unpolished versions of their intakes... they asked if there was another Injen out there, because they certainly don't make unpolished intakes for the Protege...

I don't know if I would trust that site. If it's too good to be true... it's usually not.

I bought my injen intake through adventon.com and I had no problems. It was way cheaper than other online venders- $199. I didn't see anything about them offering polished/unpolished versions, I saw the colored versions though. They don't list the B&M short shifter that I want, but I emailed them and they have it for $135- still the cheapest I have found. I have no affiliation with them, I just know that I have saved $50 that I can spend on something else now.
