Angry New Protege - did the dealer rip me?

Hey everyone,

just got my Protege LX last week, and only now starting to do research on it (what can i say, a test drive was all it took!)

was wondering if the dealer got a good laugh out of me though, i paid 17127.63$ CAD including everything except taxes. Mine is a base LX, no air conditioning, 5-speed. Mind you , this is for a 2002.

list on roadcompanion.ca is 16,695$ CAD (plus delivery i would guess).

just wondering, cause i was trying to haggle a maintenance CIP card, and the manager kept on telling me i got a very good deal. you never know with these car salemen!

TIA

well... I don't know if you've got a bad deal or not
but you should never trust the sales

they told me that I got a good deal until I kept leaving and bargaining and then they shut up cuz they got a relatively bad deal (it's not like I didn't let them to make ANY money)

I can't talk of LX but I just paid $15,800 for 2003 Protege5 with fade/directional mirror and cargo net. Maybe this will help...

Linn and Ant......this is a bit off subject....but, Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to our Club. There are TWO BIG fridge'S in the corner with anything you can think of in them...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have.

make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom don't care....and take it easy.

oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here.

Welcome!!

I can't speak for the LX and canadian pricing.....SO I don't know if you got a BAD deal or not....but what is important is if you feel that you paid a fair price for what you got. Just because someone got a better price doesn't mean YOU got a bad deal.....it just means they got a better one, which could have had to do with where and when they baught their car.
