new guy question

hi everyone im new to mazdas let alone my msp i planned on starting my car off with an injen cai but heard stories that an intake can decrease the performance of my car is this true? quick replys appreciated i plan on ordering it asap

never heard of that happening. If it did, it would be a first. A CAI will only give you a small gain, but it's always a good start.

Depends on how well the stock **** is designed, and how well or poorly the CAI is designed. It'll definitely have an effect on the powerband, and while there may be a measurable gain at certain RPMS, it may come at the cost of a loss at other RPMs.

Power losses? Can't say I've noticed any with my Injen CAI. If anything, it's just alot of noise, with some kick at about 3k rpm.
