New to forum and Protege, hello!

Hows it going all? My name is Ray, I just purchased a 2000 Protege ES and found this forum. Its great to see so many people enthuastic about these cars.
Mine is still under warrenty, so there won't be any modding for a little while, but I still would appreciate some help in understanding the Mazda language so that I can communicate and comprehend posts on the forums. Sooo, a few basics...
What is the chassis code for my car? I see MP, MP3, etc, could someone spell them out for me by the year/code? Also, what is the engine code for the 1.8 l?
Is there a place thats a sticky on the forum that I could find this miscelaneous information? Things I'm looking for are: is suspension transferable from the newer Proteges to the older, interior parts, exterior body, intake plenums/runners, etc.
Also, the front bumper isn't all that awesome to me, are the Mazdaspeed bumper, sideskirts, and rear bumper a direct bolt on to the 2000 from the newer models?

Thank you all for taking me in, I hope to have many good times ahead with my new Mazda, and I look forward to seeing you all on the forum!

Ray

hello welcome to the forum. i'm pretty new too. the mazdaspeed bumper is not a direct fit because in 2001 they changed the hood, fenders and headlight. the side skirts will fit and so will the rear skirt. you can buy the side and rear skirt at http://mazdastuff.com/ or at a local mazda dealership. you can find info on the protege at http://web2.airmail.net/theman/protegefaq/

welcome! Don't let the warranty keep you from modding and enjoying your car even more. Mazda doesn't have a good track record with honoring warranties.

Hello again! Thanks for the warm welcome, and your tips so far. I can't wait to really get into the vehicle more, those side skirts are really hot, I may just have to get a set for the mean time. Again, thanks a lot, see you around!

Your Chassis Code is BJ, Engine code is FP-DE....check out the Protege FAQ...it has lots of info, and also use the search function for more info here. the newer front end parts will not fit your car without EXTENSIVE modification...best to look for 99-00 specific parts...I recommend the Sport20 bumper..You can purchase it from Corksport.

WELCOME !!!
