What kind of times are you running?
And have you ever raced a turbo Neon?
Not hating. Just curious that's all. I've seen a turbo Protege at recent car shows here in Hawaii.

I don't think he's gone to the track yet, but he's the first person to receive the BEGI turbo kit, I think his car was used as the doner car. He has a few videos of his car on another post, lemme find the link for you. It seems to be really quick for just running stock ecu and fuel components. I think he's running at 7psi right now... With a better fuel pump and better injectors, etc. he'd probably be safe running up aroun 12psi without any internal work. I dunno, I'm just guessing though... Here's the link to the vids, they are on the last page (or second to last).

Do you have any links for turbo neons? I wouldn't mind checking some out

Cool Vids

Hahn Racecraft's daily-driven 10 second Neon -> http://hahnracecraft.com/auto/neon/neon.htm

My daily-driven 12 second Neon -> http://www.neonwerx.com/ksia

My I'm currently upgrading injectors and a first gen Accel DFI and a roll-bar so I can raise the boost and tune the car right. Should be mid to high 11's come IDRC race at the end of August here in Hawaii. I haven't done any permanent weight-reduction to my car. Just take out the rear and passenger seats at the track when I'm racing and pop-em back in after. I still need a front-mount intercooler. Small side-mount for now.

You guys are arguing over a F!cking neon, these can be and are fast cars but they are F!cking ugly, they are a chick car just like the mustang and such, Seriously I could care less if some dick in his neon beat me in a race, I don't know but you can't have to much testosterone if you buy a ***** car like a neon, If it had 600whp I wouldn't give two ***** it is still friggin ugly, guys in my area have neons with large rims and crap and it looks fugly the body shape does not fit the look, I don't even like alot of exotic cars because they are ugly as sin, I love my car and I thought that this site was for people who loved the mazda protege not some chrysler piece of ****, I don't mind some chryslers but the neon is seriously the worst car other than the sunfire and cavalier which are all pretty much the same so there is my 2 cents

Get off neon panzys this is a mazda site

Have a nice day

Calm down, oh hyper one. IMO what makes the site interesting IS the fact the some folks go ballistic over the stupidist things. Tricked-outP5 has a valid point because, unless I am mistaken, this is a Mazda forum - why waste bandwidth on Mopar. I don't think his response is any more demeaning than yours since you both seem equally crude and vulgar.

Perhaps you can amuse yourself by painting your calipers.

Insofar as your grammatical musings, try using complete sentences, preferably including a subject

I already went through highschool and college so I don't need someone teaching me english, it is a friggin forum who cares about grammar.

Sorry if I pissed some people off with what I said just stating my opinion like everybody else.

now can't we all just get along

Cars are cars, enjoy what you have, some people can't even afford what we got so eh I am happy with what I got so if you want a neon fine with me, my mother has one and the reason I don't like them is because when ever I see her I don't see the car because it is in the shop, she's getting rid of it soon because it is costing her a fortune to keep it,

now everyone go out and look at your protege or any other car you have and be thankful for what you have.

Whoa... I didn't say ANYTHING bad about the Mazda Protege. But if you're going to flame the Neon then flame on. It's your forum. But notice that I didn't start this topic. I believe Zeriak of your ProtegeClub.com did. Calm down yeesh...

Anyway. From my understanding... a good rule of thumb for boost is 1 psi for every 10hp. So if the pro is only gonna be 30 more hp its only running 3 psi. The Neon is gonna be almost 60 more hp so its gonna be running almost 6 psi. So if we get a boost controller and boost it up 3 psi we will be back in the same boat with the MP3 vs. R/T. Right or am i just mistakin?
Actually boost is proportionate. Rule of thumb is actually around 8% more hp per psi of boost relative to existing horsepower. There are other factors involved too like heat soak and turbo efficiency but all else being equal, the more power a car has the more power a turbo will produce.

Supercharged Mustangs and Camaros, twin-turboed Corvettes, Vipers, RX7's, Supras, Skylines, are fine examples. 1psi of boost on a 320hp RX7 (for example) will easily add 25 hp to the car. 1psi on a Neon would add only about 12 hp.

HAHAHA

Mustangs are a chick car.... heheheh

hmm.. wait... I own one and have always owned one since I started driving (and I won't be telling you how long that is )

And no... we're not all dicks... I could make the same comments for import owner's as well... If I had a dollar for every import that screwed with me at a light while driving my Cobra... well.. I'd be quite wealthy at this point!

It's not the car that makes the driver a dick... he/she did that all on their own!

Wow, an Escort AND a Neon .... So you've owned 2 examples of bottom-of-the-line American metal. Which way is the regurgitorium?

This whole thread cracks me up.

I believe the proper grammatical expression is "vomitorium" not regurgitorium, LOL

But whatever the term...a neon and a focus? I'm right behind you on the way to the barfarama!

A focus AND a neon. He's never owned a real car and that is sad.
