Hello. I've been lurking for awhile, but I finally decided to go with the Protege5 and picked it up last night.
I wanted silver but they traded the one I wanted on Monday night. My car is a 2002.5 Classic Red with moonroof.
So far, so good.

I bet the Mazda get will save you a ton of money in gas over the 2002 Ford Excursion XLT V10 4X4 
what the hell does that get 10-12 MPG

You're good. Last tank (44 gallons) was 11.1 MPG.
Actually,
I have two kids (and a wife) and we don't drive the Excursion unless we're all going somewhere together. We've had it for about 8 months and I think it has less than 5,000 miles.
I'll just be driving the P5 back and forth to work and to the store. I think it's going to work great for that!!
