Smile New baby Pro5... alarm and wheel questions

Whelp, we brought our new Black Mica Pro5 home last night. What a great car! We love everything about it. We got it with an automatic transmission, moonroof, and floormats. We really wanted polished wheels an the optional alarm. But sadly there were none to be found in the Black Mica without ordering. We didn't want to wait and the extra cost was more than we wanted to finance. We were wondering if anybody had bought the optional alarm module and installed it. I'd really like the factory alarm. We will get an aftermarket but want to see if the factory unit is a possibility first. If so how much was it and how hard was the install. It looks like all the wiring is there and just a module would need to be installed. Is this correct? Lastly we were wondering if anyone has gotten there wheels chromed. If so who does it, how much, and do they have a core program?
Thanks a bunch,
Charles Smith

i would certainly have to agree A good aftermarket alarm, such as the DEI Hornet Keyless Upgrade or if you do not have the factory keyless entry, any other "your brand here" alarm will give you better protection than the factory CodeAlarm, as mentioned, anybody can access the schematics. Plus i feel CodeAlarm products are not that great...JMHO...Although i do recommend DEI alarms (Viper, Python, Sidewinder, Hornet, Automate and now Avital and Clifford)

Thanks guys for the input. We will probably go with an aftermarket system. We would really like to get a remote start/ alarm. Can anyone suggest one that will work with the factory keyless entry. Any prices?
thanks,
Charles Smith

i don't think the Hornet 700T has the 2nd channel ability, although it's big brother, the Automate 415A does. For remote start systems, again i recommend DEI systems. In your case, i would suggest the Valet 551T. It's a stand alone R/S system that will compliment the 415A nicely, but it can add onto any alarm with an extra channel output.

Another option would be a an Alarm/R-S combo unit. Although this would negate the use of the factory keyless, it may be more cost effective. The main difference is the range of remote operation. Factory systems typically get about 20 to 30feet of range, while the high frequency DEI systems can get up to 1500 feet of range. Also, you have many more options as to remote buttons, as you get a 4-button remote with the DEI remote start systems. The Viper 550ESP would be a good thought, but again any DEI system will do fine.

I have a lot of pics and info on DEI and Enforcer products on my shop site, click on "AutomediaZone" below in my sig.

I can get you any of the above mentioned units.

i would also say to go with an aftermarket alarm, much better and cheaper and more options. also, chrome rims arent that grate unless you get dope ones, thats just my opinion, like get polisshed rims if u like the stock kind and just want to get em polished but if u want to chrome them ud probably be much much better just getting new rims...

just my .02 everyone has different opinions
