Nasty ploy by Mazda....

Has anyone noticed that the new Mazdaspeed Pro warrantly says explicitly that the warranty is null and void if the car is used in any kind of competitive event? Not sure where I read that...but then on the SAME PAGE it tells you that with the purchase of a Mazdaspeed Protege you get a years membership in the SCCA to do what?!.....compete in autocross events of course....but wait, that would void your warranty wouldn't it....

Not very nice of Mazda at all.

aha, BUT SCCA solo II/autocross technically is NOT a cometition event. It is technically defined as a driver's EDUCATION course, IIRC...

anyone that is more knowledgeable about this please clarify

Figure out where you read that then let me know. I've read everything I can about the Mazdaspeed Protege and I've never seen anything about the SCCA membership nor the voiding of the warranty if the car competes in anything.

Until you show me proof, I'll have to assume you made it up or have exceedingly poor reading comprehension.

Well, how rudely put, douche bag! I'll assume that you have exceedingly poor people skills.

Why the hell would I make up something like that?! I'll find it, and I'll shove it right up your ***!!

it may not be explicitly stated that they will deny warranty coverage, but that very thing has been a huge problem for Subaru owners. you get a free year in SCCA with the purchase of a WRX too, and i know of several people who have had their warranty claims denied because they autoXed the car.

Ya car companys are asses. the thing is, ya if u crash your car racing (or break something) on a track NO u shouldnt expect to take it to a dealer to get fixed. but then they also try and skrew people who dont dont race by blatently telling you to your face that YES YOU DO RACE. i've gone with my uncle in the scooby and they just flat out call u a liar, a racer and tell you to get out.

so y bother sell my P5 for a turbo pro... they'll void the warrenty either way (cause i'd autocross the **** out of it) just slap a turbo on mine and be on with life.

you all kill me. I dont doubt that it says that...they could probably get sewed(being as you can get sewed for anything now) and they dont feel like warrantying parts and labor for people who go out and beat up their cars for competition events. Blah. ha ha. I hope that made sense
They will probably get sued by the first person that has a denied warranty claim because of that clause. I think they would have a hard time enforcing that in court. They would have to prove that the owner was negligent in racing it (hard to prove for the casual weekend racer type person) and caused the damage as a result of it. Just remember that the owners manual is not a legally binding document from your end. Just a statement of Mazda policy. So if they hack you off enough you can take them to court but they would probably do the repairs the moment they heard you had the slightest intention to do so.

as stated above......IF that statement or disclaimer is in fact in their warrantee....then the burden of proof that you have been using the car for competition is upon THEM.....seems a bit far fetched to be able to enforce it.

but heres the catch... most people wont go as far as taking it to court, and if they do they have to sign something saying they wont talk about it as part of a settlement. so no1 ever finds out.
