Muffler fro Ebay?
Is it okay to purchase a muffler from Ebay, and what are some of the things I need to know if I want to get one off Ebay...like the specifications, inlet, and outlet size....thanks for all the help, 'cause I really don't know much about cars...but I want to make my MP5 looks better, so I can shut my roommate up for talking too much about his new Mazda 3....

BTW.. If you want to go custom please at least buy an apexi N1 exhuast, Greddy, Tanabe, HKS, something that is reputable not some piece of crap that is going to run you like $30 then fall apart or sound like **** in a couple of weeks.

I have a question about the HKS axle-back. Is it really loud, or kind of mellow? I don't really have the money for a good cat-back & am loooking for suggestions on a decent axle-back.
BTW, is the HKS you have made specifically for your Protege?

The HKS axle-back is pretty mellow, it is only loud when you floor it and it does'nt sound ricey at all. It has a deep aggressive tone to it like a supra or rx-7. It also sounds really mean. If you want to hear the HKS exhaust visit: www.hksusa.com on the site they have clips of cars ripping it down the roads of japan with the exhaust so you can hear what it sounds like.
On the main page it says featured product which is the hks hi-power exhaust click on it then it will take you to an application page. On that page go to the right on the top of the page where there is a pic of the exhaust coming out the back of the car. Then click on video clip here you can hear cars and see how it looks.
No it's not custom, the sweet thing is that it is a direct bolt-on application so it's guaranteed a perfect fit on our cars;the HKS axle-back has also been tested on our cars in turbo magazine if you are interested in the power numbers I will post them.

In Turbo magazine the August 2002 issue, VOL 18. NO.8 on a stock 2002 mazda protege 5 the exhaust made somewhere around 5.7 hp at low rpm's and around 8.5 hp at the higher rpm's you got to remember that is is only the axle-back if you got rid of both cats and added custom piping or headers then the numbers would be much greater.

I checked out the HKS site, thanks.
You are right, the system sounds exactly what I'm looking for plus I like the look. But there like, 3 or 4 systems listed. I'll have to find out if they all fit my car--I
liked the EVO best...I have a 2003 ES, not a P5.

My bad I thought you had a P5, on the site they have a direct application for the P5. The next best thing would be for you to get the universal hks hi-power muffler and have a muffler shop menderal bent the piping and weld it on.
