Question Motor Oil Question

I don't know much about car so this may seem stupid . If I have been using regular motor oil in my car and want to switch to a synthetic...will that cause a problem, or is there anything special that I need to do? Also, how much better is sythetic than traditional? Thanks for the help!

this has been thoroughly discussed in this forum, use the 'Search' button on the upper right hand corner of the page, and search for 'synthetic oil', you'll find A LOT of very informative stuff.

and welcome to the forum

You're only stupid for that moment that you asked that question, you'll be stupid forever if you don't ask at all

Welcome!

Oh Christ... Everyone uses different oils, and they switch to synthetics at different times. There are a millions theories, habits, opinions, etc. You the search, you'll find what you're looking for immediately, instead of having to wait for everyone to post.

Asking that question usually guarantees an argument will follow. Obviously, I'm partial to Amsoil. If you're interested, shoot me an email.

I would use Motul or AGIP for synthetic. IF you want to change your oil every 2500 miles then Castrol Syntec or Mobil 1.

is the implication here that Mobil 1 or Castrol Syntec will not hold up as well as even regular non-synthetic oil (which has a 3,000 to 5,000 mile interval depending on who you ask)? 2,500 miles would seem a VERY short interval.
