GTX motor question

OK i decided not to sell the car and just keep on beefin it up
but now i have some questions if u guys could help me....

I was doing a search and i was reading on how a GTR turbo (vj-22) would fit on the GTX manifold.....and it seemed to be as tho if its true..but if i can ask.....is it?...

And if so...where can i find a VJ-22 Turbo??...

is it worth it?...

Another question i have..(dam im curious)..
how much pounds of boost and HP can a
stock GTX motor take before
i have to start doing internals?...

Any other suggestions on how i can get more HP out of
this motor?..

Reason i ask so many questions is cause im looking
to take this motor to the 300HP mark and i need all the help
i can get...any response will be helpfull..thanx!

first the gtr turbo is a vj23...there is speculation that the 22 was an upgrade option on the GTX. Second it can handle ~400 whp before you break things, but the transmission wont. if you want this kind of power you really need a 5speed...the automatic isnt designed with that kinda power in mind.
Second-Search the F/I section
Third-DO A 5 SPEED SWAP
Fourth-Put on a ported and polished n/a head
Fifth-DO A 5 SPEED SWAP

UH..

Good deal!...(dam i love this forum )...but yo....how much HP gain u think ill get from a ported and polished N/A head?....just for the sake of some calculations im doin here..in the double digits im assuming?...Oh and yeh the 5 Speed thing..im so trying. But automatic boost is pretty nicce..its like the never ending spool..feels niice how the power builds up and up. Im actually looking into getting an automatic tranny built up for this HP.....just viewing my options u know.

1st, the GTR turbo won't bolt up to the GTX manifold. The GTR turbo is considerably larger than the GTX. I have a GTR motor and I have a VJ-20 on another manifold that I put next to my GTR when I did my motor swap and there is a very noticable difference in the two of them.

2nd, the power the p&p head would make depends on how much boost you are running.

3rd, auto trans isn't too good for boost. You'll have to let off the gas between gears or you'll have a blown trans. The advantage of a 5spd is the shift between gears offers enough time for the boost to be released, a auto trans shifts right away so the boost will creap on you and you will end up with blown parts. I've seen it happen about 4-5 times on my friends car.

thats why i told him to get the 5speed swap, and while ranting about the turbo not being in fact a 22 but a 23 i left out the obvious that it wont fit. thanks adam <3 but yeah...youll invest more money making an automatic work with it than getting a g series tranny and a good clutch. unless you cant drive. then im going to stop talking to you

u can fit the gtr turbo and manifold to the GTX... but iv seen people try to run 18psi with the GTR ecu and fuel system, and they ended up with a conrod through the side of the block...

the GTX isnt made for that kind of presure.... the stock internals are only good to around 16psi - 18psi.... from a GTR sized turbo...

the stock GTX turbo is towards the end of its ability at 14psi and with the GTX ecu u will get a cut at 14.Xpsi....

a good upgrade turbo is the VF10 or the VF8

the VF8 needs a new manifold, but the VF10 can be fitted to the GTX turbo's exhaust housing, just remember to get the waist gate ported to stop boost creep....

if u have a GTX engine and want to make lots of power, i would look at fitting BF 1.6 DOHC turbo con rods as they are quite a bit stronger ironicly...... or go for aftermarket.....
