Lightbulb Miles/Gallon - Possible problem from other post???

MUST BE AWARE OF THIS...US/Canada

You have to be careful of who's MPG you are comparing too...if you work out the calculation based on US Gallons, the 55 Litre tank works out to 14.5 Gallons. If you use the Imperial ( Canada-British ) Gallon, it works out to 12.1 Gallons.

Now, if you get 550km ( 341 Miles ) on one full tank of gas...
using US gallons it works out to: 23.5 Miles/Gallon

If you get 550km ( 341 Miles ) on one full tank of gas...
using Imperial Gallons it works out to: 28 Miles/gallon

**I could be wrong...but these numbers seem to both match up with what people are getting, and there are both Americans and Canadians on this board....hmmmmmmmm...could this be???

**When the cars state 29 Miles/Gallon ( Like mine does ) they are talking IMPERIAL GALLONS, not US GALLONS.

Tell me what you think???

Pretty interesting. They way I have calculated mine, is with the tank as empty as I can, little below E, then fill it up, it always measures about 13.1-13.5 gallons at the pump, then when it goes empty again divide the milage by those 13.5 gallons. Its been giving me around 23-25. But I havent been able to get 30 ever.

Where are you from? If your tank is 55 Litres like the 2.0 ES GT in Canada, that would translate into 12.1 Gallon...therefore being impossible to be filling with over 13 Gallons ( which probably means you are talking US Gallons because the US gallon is smaller than an imperial Gallon )...which means you are probably calculating MPG on the US Gallon.

If you calculate based on the imperial gallon, your MPG will be higher than you are stating...probably more around 28-30 MPG.

i just wanted to let every one know that mazda usa lists a 14.5 gal tank on thier website. i can't believe no one looked that up!?

the web site also lists 25/31 miles per gallon, which is EXACTLY what i am getting.

it was also pointed out in the other thread that those people using less than 93 oct gas are not seeing the estimated fuel economy either.

PEOPLE ARE NOT LISTENING!!!

1 Liter = 0.26 US Gallons ( 25-30 MPG ) - USA
1 Liter = 0.22 Imperial Gallons ( 29-35 MPG ) - CANADA

US people have lower MPG because your GALLON is smaller than in Canada.

55 Liters = 14.5 US Gallons
55 Liters = 12.1 Imperial Gallons

I am just saying that some people on the board are getting 24-25 MPG ( which is normal if you are in the states ) and in CANADA you should be expecting 20-35 MPG.

Is this all that difficult to just look at and understand???

I understand it, but it still doesn't explain why my mpg sucks. I am not getting near 25 miles per US gallon city driving and I can barely get that driving on the highway.

what kind of gas are you using? from the other post that has been mentioned, those that were using the low grade gas were seeing the lower milage numbers, and those that were seeing higher milage numbers were using the higher grade gas. just something you might look into.
