don't be silly....

Mazdaspeed. Not only is it cheaper, it's easier to upgrade, has more functionality and looks better (IMO).

go to www.mazdasouth.com they are selling brand new MSP for $15,990. Can't beat that with a stick. My new P5 stickered at $20!!

I also like the Hyundai. I had a buddy with a Hyundai Accent 1.5L and it would outrun a mustang GT in the quarter mile. We had a dual TB set up on it with larger injectors and upgraded ECU. It only made about 160whp, but it was enough to move that little car down the track faster than most! Be carefull which cars you call crap, they may just smoke you at the next light.

I like the tibby. They really are nice cars. I think the newer body kits make this car absolutly gorgeous. Yes, they are probably more for girls, but I can tell you right now that the Tibby GT is a strong car and will run nose to nose with an RSX-S. The same cannot be said for the P5. If I were interested in a 2 door, sporty car for playing with the Tibby would be my first choice. However, being 6'3" I need alittle more room thats why I'm found of sedans ( Taurus SHO, Contour SVT, MSP, MP5) Don't underestimate the Tibby, I've even seen the 4bangers with turbos making some awesome numbers!! And now they have a V6 Supercharger from Alpine...GET OUT!! That thing will rule the protege. I'd like to see more info from Hyundai about their reliability, but I've heard nothing but good things since they ditched mitsubishi motors a few years back. I also read the study that ranked the new hyundais relaibility up there with homda. Can't knock it at that price. To each their own.

MAZDA OR HYUNDAI

WHUTS UP DAWG! I SEE YOU NEED SOME ANSWER TO YOUR QUESTION. WELL JUST TO LET YOU KNOW I PICKED MY MSPEED OVER THE SRT4. I DROVE BOTH CARS AND I FELL IN LOVE WITH THE MAZDA. I'M A KINDA GUY WHO LIKES POWER. THE NEON THOSE PUT OUT TONS OF POWER OVER THE MAZDA BUT THE CAR JUST DIDNT APPEAL TO ME. IT DIDNT HAVE THE STEREO SYSTEM, THE RIMS, SUSPENSION, INTERIOR, PAINT JOB....OVERALL THE MAZDA GOT MORE. NOW THAT I GOT A MSPEED, IM ON MY WAY ON CHASING SOME SRT4!!!! JUST WITH MY BOOST CONTROL AND OTHER MODS, MY MAZDA IS PUTTING OUT THE SAME AS A NEON. TIBURON THOSE HAVE A GOOD LOOK TO EM BUT I NEVER SEEN ANY FAST ONES IN MY SHOP.

I'm going to have to call BS here. With simple mods the MSP won't make the same power as the neon. I know someone who has a heavily modified MSP and it jut barely makes as much power as the SRT. It's not to say that it can't be done. It can. The MSP I was building was looking closer to 350hp. However, with a simple boost controller, exhaust, FMIC, fuel cut defender, boost set at 21psi my frineds car only made 260whp. The neons come rated at 215hp on the flywheel but put down closer to 245whp. I think the neons are ***, but they are much faster than our cars even with bolt-ons. Let's keep the ****-talking to a minimum, lying doesn't help nor impress anyone!!

One thing to consider is that this is a MSP or Tiburon thread. Another thing to consider is that the MSP has a flourishing aftermarket now thanks mostly to the 2 forums, and the demand. Lastly, which one would be easier to get power out of? I belive the MSP. All you would need to do is turn up the boost, or upgrade the turbo, and you can easily double your 170 HP figure in a hurry.

Not true. Doubling the MSP hp of 170 is nowhere near as easy as just turning up the boost. Kwiksti on the msprotege board has done extensive work on his MSP and it's only hitting 260hp. This is with a full race exhaust, 110octane gas, fuel cut defender, 21psi boost, FMIC....so forth. I do agree that tuning the MSP will be easier to get more power out of, but 340hp is unattainable without pulling the motor and forging the internals. Also, by the time you look into upgrading turbo, intercooler, forging internals, fuel management etc you've spent double what the car is worth! I know, I just did it! I've found that people who hate the tibby are just unfamiliar with Hyndai's current situation. They are very much on the rise right now. This new Tibby may not be a "serious contender", but I've seen some things come out of Hyundai's R&D department that look amazing. I personally would have no problems shelling at $20-25K for a new turbo-powered 2.5L four banger in an AWD tiburon. Sounds an awefull lot like an STi to me. I know the power will be down, but it's still very promising. The more Hyundai's and Kia's we see on the road the better as far as I'm concerned. I want every car company to do well. When companies compete the consumer ALWAYS WINS!!!
