Mazdaspeed rocks!

Thanks to all out there wil valuable advice, tips, comments etc..

I've been following protegeclub among others while in the market for a nifty little sedan. Let me say this board has been a great source of information and helped me make an informed decision to get this flyer.

Still can't believe the power it produces for a little one.. Great handling and performance. Makes the Civic SI's and Corolla S' look like toy cars..

I don't seem to see people typing it as Mazda Protege MP5...
It's either MP5 or Mazda Protege 5 in full I've seen...

also on another note, a lot of people call the mazda protege MP3 by its proper name, Protege MP3, but there are people who call the protege 5, the MP5, which is not its name, i dont know about you but on the badge of the car, i dont see an M and a P next to the 5. so you shouldnt call it a mazda protege mp5, because you are calling it a mazda protege mazda protege 5, right?
Why do people make such a big freaking deal out of this? We know what they mean by MP5, why does everyong have to be "mr. i'm cool because it's not MP5"? Freaking let it go.

I've seen on a TV report that the make is called Mazda, and the model is called Speed, Protege is just a tacked on word so that ppl know its in the same car family. So in reality its called a Mazda Speed , with a space. not Mazdaspeed, otherwise they would have to register that trade mark, and use that brand name as the make of the car??
As per Mazda's website, it IS Mazdaspeed Protege. I'm assuming mazda has the trademark to mazdaspeed, so I'm assuming they don't have a problem using the name.

zumzum, congrats on the new car, I bet it's a blast. Welcome to the board!

Mazdaspeed's really the registered brand name of the car.

Check Mazda's website: http://www.mazdausa.com/mazdaspeed_protege/

Notice the little ® next to "Mazdaspeed"..

So, if you're REALLY particular about the naming convention, it really should be Mazda Mazdaspeed Protegé..

I just call mine Honey

Exclamation Congratulations, and ignore the Alien!

Sweet - you have your MPS Protege already (eat that, N.E.R.D.)!

Post reports, your own pictures, experiences etc.

As for NERD, perhaps we should banish him further out - to Uranus, or Pluto! Doesn't matter what wants to call his car - so long as people understand what he's talking about.

Eh no. It is a Mazdaspeed Protege. The base car is no more than a Protege sedan with Mazdaspeed enhancements. Basically the same FS-DE engine (except with turbo <FS-DET>), tranny (except with LSD), chassis, etc. Essentially, lots of parts have been added to an otherwise typical Pro.

Mazdaspeed was originally a separate aftermarket entity until they joined with Mazda. Basically, a Mazdaspeed Protege falls under the same naming convention as a SVT Focus/Contour/Cobra, AMG Mercedes, etc.

You know what I love is when people get on here and start spouting garbage like they are so friggin smart, and what they say is law.

N.E.R.D. Have you even been to the Mazda website?

Apparently you have not, because there is a royalty free MazdaSpeed one worder right there on the page!!

Heh, to be really picky, there is no "Mazdaspeed", only "MAZDASPEED". Nowhere on Mazda's site nor in any printed materials (including the window stickers) will you find MAZDASPEED written with a capital "M" and the rest lower case.

And congrats on teh car ZUMZUM....hope you have fun in it once you get delivery on it

just wait til I'm able to get enuff money to get a twin turbo (damn dunno about motor..but i'm geussing my tranny will die really quickly) hehe...then I'll be the TT Pro
