MazdaSpeed Performance Modifications

I have yet to purchase one but right now it's at the top of my list. I did some searches and haven't really found much on the modification end of the new MazdaSpeed. I have a few questions for you guys:

Is the turbo and intercooler upgradable? The reason I ask about the intercooler is I heard somewhere the AC mounts block it.. but because it's front mount is there enough room to mount a larger one?

How easily accessible is the blow off valve?

Is there a new exhaust pipe in development to release that oh-so-nasty back pressure?

With a redline of 6500, what does the rev limitter kick in at and what is the governer set at?

Thanks,
CL Storm

Yes, the turbo is a T-25 so just about any T-25 or T-28 hybrid will bolt up to it, whether or not the oil lines/coolant lines and exhaust will mate up is a diffferent story. I think a T-28 Compressor will help it put a bit more top end out. The intercooler is upgradeable if you manuever the piping around, I think a nice FMIC will improve performance with spirited driving.

How easily accessible is the blow off valve?
It is very accesible, its just to the left of the intake box, it is VERY tiny and makes turkey gobbling sounds at low boost. This is a MAF system so you will need to replace it with something that pipes back into the turbo inlet pipe or you will run into stumble issues. A turboXS re-circ will sound good and work well here.

Is there a new exhaust pipe in development to release that oh-so-nasty back pressure?
As it sits there isn't much backpressure in there, the exhaust system is well designed and could only benefit by eliminating cat's and such.

Limited at 6750, but the gearing is better than it used to be so when shifting you are still able to accelerate through the next gear without worrying about the limiter. Not something you need to bounce off of with all of the mid-range torque available.

well i dunno a lot about the protege line... I just heard the exhaust system was a swap out from the weaker mp3. and in most turbo charged vehicles, there is back pressure to eliminate early transmission problems... just like with the eclipse. I figured it was the same with this vehicle. So far I love the looks, performance wise it seems to be set-up quite well... interior... holy crap (pardon my french) i think it looks great. But performance wise, I was kind of hoping it is all doable. The 150hp it supposedly puts down to the wheels could be better so thats why I'm asking. Are there any performance parts out for it yet other than just general turbo equipment?

How do you guys like your mazdaspeeds?? Try not to be biased
