have you tried unscrewing it? Thats how mine on my MP3 comes off, not too sure about the p5, they might have some kinda set screw or something to loosen it.

I actually like the looks of the shiftknob on the p5. I think it likes way better then the majority of aftermarket shitknobs

The gauges look OK, but the designer who did the markings could have done a lot better.

Most speed limits in the U.S. are 5's, so the major ticks and labels should be on the 5's, not the 10's. Not only did Mazda flub that, but why on earth is the speedometer marked off in 2-mph increments? How useless is that?

One of only a very few peeves I have with the car.

sunbyrne, i totally agree. i freakin hate how it goes up by incrmints of 2 regarding the tick marks. I also hate how the numbers go up by 20! its so useless. i like the red though i i just sorta gotta estimatie when im in the 25, 35, 45, 55, and 65mph zones. yea thats one thing i dont like about the car. I also dont like how the radio is the clock and i dont like how the speakers suck but im upgrading anyway so whatever. I just need to figure about my clock problem when i get a new head unit and also need to figure out how to get a kit so i cant install it. i know most radios have clocks but i dont like em, you can barely see em in the sun.

Also, side note, how come a normal like dash kit wont work when installing a new head unit? like cant you use just any normal thing or something? like whats so different on the MP5 that causes difficulties in installing a new single din head unit.

I agree TheMAN. I have a 99, and would love the white guages that comes in the new 01. but I don't want the indiglos, cuz it does mess with your eyes... really pointless..

Speaking about the gauges, the stock ES white gauges work perfectly fine and are well designed. People out there who want to get indiglos, please I urge you not to get them because most of the indiglos out there suck! Cheesy construction, plus the bluryness at night due to how indiglo works will just throw your eyes off. The green/blue face lighting doesn't help either and makes your eyes refocus when you are looking from the road to the gauges and back.
