Making a MazdaSpeed Protege?
I took my car to the dealer for some routine service today. As I was waiting, I picked a "magazine" put out my Mazda called Fuel.
It was mainly pimping the Mazda6, but there was a little blurb about the MSProtege. From what I understood, the MSProtege is just a "reworked" Protege at one of the ports. The article said it takes about 8 hours of work to upgrade the Protege and that they can do about 5 a day at each of the ports. From there they are known as MSProtege.
I was always under the impression that the MSProteges rolled off the factory ready to go.
If this is the case, I think Mazda is missing a goldmine by not running their own aftermarket service. I know I would line up to have my engine reworked.
But this leads back to the question about the ECU. Is it the same ECU as a regular Protege, or do they do work on it too in order to take advantage of the turbo system?
