Unhappy K&N Typhoon

Anybody know if the Typhoon is worth buying? If not, any better intakes?

I haven't heard anything about the K&N intake. Alot of folks here have the Ebay CAI and say its worth it. I got the Injen intake 'cause, at the time it ws the only CAI avalible. I prolly would have gotten the bootleg if they were available sooner.

Dud defenatly ebay CAI (60.00) shipped. Buy a K&n filter and you have the same thing but saved 175.00

Someone around here will pobably say it's worth the cost, but not me. Even if I had the money there is no way I could spend that much on an intake.
Intakes are not exactly rocket-science, it's just a damn pipe. Get a cheap e-bay type intake and spend a little extra on a good filter. That's the only important part of an intake, anyway.

I dont trust those cheapo intakes

I found a slightly used Injen Race Devision intake for 40 bucks+25 shipping and it comes with one of those pocket thingys to fill the gap around an aftermarket cd player.

Sounds like a great deal. The gap-filling pockets oftentimes come free with head unit purchase. But $65 for an Injen is a great deal. I'd go for it.

ive got the k&n typhoon on my protege and before that i had the aem short ram. personally i would not have paid for that but i won it at a car meet. the aem was good but the k&n has a deeper sound, imo. its a nice intake though. also they come with a splash guard for the filter which lets it breath but doesnt allow water to come in, as long as it isnt submerged. and if you are still paranoid (s/p?) it converts to a short ram. not too shabby, huh? but its up to you, its your money

I drive through the winter with my CAI. So far this year we've had two 15cm snow days not including all the other just normal snow days. I've also driven through some major rain this year and a minor flood. No problems with the CAI.

many ppl value different things but I like my typoon. you get CAI and SRI for less then $250
I used own ebay intake...didn't really liked it, I didn't like their cheap brackets. had Injen CAI too..loved it.
it's your choice.
