Hello Everyone!

I don't have a P5, but it seems it may be my next car as my MX-3 is dieing. I may pick one up within the next couple of months. I have looked at so many cars in the past 3 months to try and decide on what I want and I keep coming back to the P5 because of it's great looks for a great value. I test drove one and the suspension is fantastic!! I was quite disappointed in the power though especially since my MX-3 also has 130HP but it seems to pic up much more then the Protege. My MX-3 has a K&N filter on it though, would it make that much of a difference? I know a lot about cars until it gets to performance, I don't know how much horse different mods get you.

Could any one tell me what to expect as far as HP increase if i was to add a K&N, Upgraded Muffler on the P5?

I was talking to the Parts manager at my local Mazda Dealership and he told me last week that his contact (I don't know where, I'm guessing Mazdaspeed) told him that a performance chip and headers should be available for the P5 sometime in the next 1-2 months. I can't gaurantee the validity of this but it sounds encouraging. I told him I was looking to possibly pick one up and have the chip, headers, muffler and intake all done as part of the deal and it would become part of the warranty.

I know I'm jumping topics here but I went to another Mazda dealership where I used to work 7 years ago. I know the Manager there and I asked him what are the chances of me getting one of the new Mazdaspeed Proteges, he said considering he has 4 deposits on the 2 that he's getting it would be quite low. I'd love to test one out though. The Mazda website says that it's the first in a series of Mazdaspeed performance cars, with my luck I'll pick up a P5 in october then in January they'll announce a Mazdaspeed P5 or something.
