My wife and I got our surveys at the same time (she got a Miata when I got my P5) and we really liked our salesman. While reading the survey letter, we noticed that we each had a different guy marked as our salesman, and neither of the listed was the guy we bought the car from. So we gave them mediocre marks, and in the note section we said we were particularly happy with the dealership, but that the Salesguy was absolutely the best, and we carefully spelled out the correct salesperson in big block capital letters.

the dealer

hmmm that all very interesting to hear....from a customer point of view and from the point of view of someone studying marketing (a few subjects).

well i must say that my salesguy did try to encourage us to fill in the dealer survey...which i didnt cause im a lazy *** ...but in terms of dealer service the impression i got is that mazda conducts a very professional sales operation..very satisfied with dealer service.

p.s. im still spewin i didnt get a $1 bill in the mail

From a marketing aspect, I find it odd that the Mazda dealers try to coerce a positive survey from their customers. If I was a Mazda exec., I would much rather have an honest (and non-biased) survey of my employees.

The dealership spent more time contacting and corresponding with me to send in the survey then they actually did selling me the car. I was very happy with their initial sales and follow-up service but preturbed by their nagging persistence to send in the stupid survey!

Sorry you didn't get the buck!

Like I said in my previous post, dealers get awards for how they do on these surveys. The better the customer rates them, the more awards they get, the better the dealership looks, the more they can show off to new customers, the more cars they sell, the more money they make. It all in the master plan.

If you look at this dealer , they have the Mazda Elite award, and are a member of the Mazda Presidents Club. The dealer gets these flag banners to hang in their dealership, which makes them look like a very reputable place to buy a car. The more of these banners they get, the better. The dealership I bought my car from had so many of these, it almost covered the whole wall.

The dealer I went to (Ontario Mazda) was very honest with me and when I took delivery of my car both the sales manager and the sales person did make a point of making sure I understood the importance of the survey to them. The saleperson gets an extra $50 only if they get a perfect score on their section, otherwise they get nothing.I don't know what the dealership gets for getting good grades on their part but I'll ask the sales manager when I go in my oil change in a few weeks. I too got the free oil changes for life but ONLY if I do all the regular maintenance there at the dealer too.

I rec'd a JD Power survey and completed it praising the Protege. I also rec'd the infamous dealer survey. I just wanted you all to know that I majorly f**ked the dealer and the salesman right up the a$$ and out the throat with this survey. I gave both bad marks just because of the pressure they put on me to give good marks and I made note of that too on the survery. Anywho....I also rec'd a survey for the salesman from the dealer. I hopefully made him feel like he was "flipped over and done dry". I was bitchin' up a storm. The moral to this story is that the dealer did not get any money from me since I scored them so poorly. But maybe now they will keep a tube O' Lube close by for all the *** remeeming they get.
