how are your stock seats holding up?

I was wondering from any fellow P5 owners with at least a few thousand miles on the odo, how's the material on the seats holding up? Since it's kind of a suede feel to it, it might start to look matted down and shiny in the areas of most contact. They seem like they would be pretty durable seats though. I only have 500 miles on mine, so just wondering what's to come for the interior integrity.

only up to 3K on mine...so I wouldn't expect to see any wear....HOWEVER....if they ever do....I think I will have to spring for some new leather skins in two tone....black and yellow!

4200 miles and looking good. No visible wear. Sure they mat down every one in a while, but after I vacuum, they're back to normal. The cloth on the door when I rest my elbow mats down a little too, but I just "brush" it back up and it also returns to normal.

Black and yellow leather would look sweet! I hope the stock seats don't give out anytime soon, but leather would be the way to go for a replacement.

Hawkeye,

I figured a good vacuum would fluff those seats right back up like you said. It's the dirt that builds up and matts the material down. You can picture a suede jacket that's all gunked up around the collar after wearing for a long time. Yuck!

Yep. Gotta agree. I only have 2K. But if it start to look like crap gotta go with leather. Im pissed cause when I was car shopping Leather was like #2 on my priorities. Yellow being #1. I didn't know the P5 had a leather option. But I was worried like you about the material getting that crap look to it. But this is less like the carpet type seating of my old pontiac so maybe it is more durable.

Well glad to hear that you got the yellow color as a priority. The exterior color definitely makes a bigger statement then having leather seats. Exterior color is for everyone else to admire. Leather seats are pleasures reserved for you and a lucky few who get to ride in your P5. Well it's always a pleasure driving a Mazda, leather or not. It's just icing on the cake.

leather was a mid-model year add-on. So it may not have been available when you bought.

Nah I just bought it Last month. Valentines day. Internet didn't list it as an option then and dealer didn't list it as an option either. Just gonna have to save up. I really want a car that has the luxury feel on the inside and the sporty look on the out. If you can try and get a look at a Subaru SVX. They don't make it any more but that car is sweet. Lotus look to it on outside and nice velvet & leather on inside. Plus wood grain dash, environment control...

I bought mine earlier this month. I never heard about the leather option at that time. Maybe a good thing. I was penny pinching as it was.

Is the Subaru SVX the coupe with the funny side windows? I've only seen a few of those but never took a look inside.

DON'T beat yourself up about it....for starters....you can get AFTERMARKET seat covers for LESS than the dealer option...and by getting custom leather...YOU get to pick out color combo's...embroidery....that sort of stuff to make it a one of a kind. MUCH classier. :{D

Dats very true. yella & black sounds good. As far as the SVX yep its the one witht te fugly windows. Took me a while to get used to it. They act as those window vents keep rain out and wind off your face.

13k on mine and they look new still. The cloth in the P5 interior seems very durable and cleans up really well. I have a dog, so even with seat covers in the back, her yellow hair get's everywhere. Vaccumes right up.
